There are five doors, one leads to the exit, the others lead to traps. They are in a line. The clues tell you which position the doors are in the line and where the door to freedom is. All the clues are true. Each door has a clue written on it. The clues read:
The blue door: This door is two spots away from the door to freedom.
The red door: This door is at the far right, and is two spots away from the blue door.
The purple door: This door is not next to the door to freedom.
The green door: This door is left of the blue door.
The orange door: This door is not next to the red or blue doors.
Which door leads to freedom?

Kinda easy, but fun still.

This was my first but I liked it. Thanks

I think I should have tried solving this without paper and pencil. It would have made it harder.
pretty neat...
I think this one was very easy...none the less I feel it was harder to come up with the teaser it self... so ggod job
kool teaser!
good, very nice.
Please phrase more carefully.
'Two doors away' could refer to the second door in one direction or mean there are two doors between the doors in question.
Also, should be precise about whether 'to the left' means directly to the left or just somewhere to the left.
Thank you.

Thank you.
I read it wrong, yet i never get it right. I had the red door not orange.
im perty stupid so that was challengin. o well that was fun!
that was easy
nice one!
Why would a door have a clue written on it that reads" this door is not next to the blue or red doors?"
That would be stupid.
That would be stupid.
Nice try Rackstraw, but you're wrong.
-No, that would be impossible, as there would have to be 6 doors; not to mention the fact that nobody counts three doors and considers it to be 2 doors.
Again, this cannot result in a possible outcome. If we start with the red on the far right, put the blue 2 (count 2) to the left of it, and the * 2 to the left of that, then there is ONLY one space "to the left" of BLUE.
Any riddle doesn't have to specify things if it cannot result in a possible answer. There IS no ambiguity.

My quotes got taken out. It should read:

It was okay, and pretty hard, but i wish there was an explanation with the answer.
Good teaser. I like this sort. I was sure I had the answer quickly (the green door) but, was mistaken! I did NOT pay attention to the words "NOT next to"
Just read more comments. Have to disagree with those saying "to the left" should be more precise. The fact that it wasn't precise is what made it tricky and interesting. A brain"teaser" not just a gimme
THEY SAY THIS HAS THE MOST COMMENTS!
I'VE SEEN MORE? ! ? !
I'VE SEEN MORE? ! ? !
Some people are sooo nit-picky. Jeez! I liked it. Good job.
I LOVED it, thanks. Everyone is different, for to me it was easy. Some days, like today, I don't want to think, but just be entertained. This puzzle fit the bill just perfect. Again, thanks.
I got this one pretty fast. Even though I did try (as always) to make things more difficult than they really are by trying to confuse myself with whether far right was my right as I face computer or far right if I were standing in front of doors and looking out! See what I mean!?! I tend to analize things way too much! I do, however, come up with the correct answer!
gosh these r soooo HARD!!! can u pleeeeeeeeeeeez mak sum ezier teasers!!! u mak me feel stupid cuz evry1 else is lik o its e-z and im lik WAT I TOTALY DONT GET IT! so plez mak sum e0zier ones so I can look smart! thx

I dont know what you guys r saying. This "teaser" was all wrong...
If you have the red door on the far right and the blue door 2 spots away the orang door has to be next to either the red door or the blue door.
_ B _ _ R
It cant work!!! If you had someting else in mind then you should watch wording or be more specific

What d'ya mean, rainbug, it do work. (Please excuse my grammar).
Its right rain bug, if you looks at the clues you can see that it works to this
OGBPR
and blue is two spots from the door to freedom, but it says red isn't the door to freedom, thus. Orange.

oh poo i'm dead or trapped or what ever
honestly i thought it was the red door...it was interesting...
Thanks for all the nice comments
ok lang!!
umm yeah... first of all.. theres no way the answer to this could be the orange door. the most obvious and logical answer would be the red door. and if this isnt a mistake and that is the answer, then it should be explained thoroughly. howeever i think it is not explained simply because there really isnt an explanation :/ thats kinda lame cuz i almost liked this one.
oh well
oh well
I guessed orange. Read comments, looked at teaser over and over again and still say it's orange. Enjoyed it.
Nice one! Jeieieieie.
Good lord, people, it's not that difficult!
As the teaser states, there are 5 doors. Thus, there is one spot for each door. Now to the clues.
_ _ _ _ _
"The blue door: This door is two spots away from the door to freedom." We'll hold off on this information for now, since we can't place the door yet.
"The red door: This door is at the far right, and is two spots away from the blue door."
From this clue, we can place the Red door on the far right, and since the blue door must be two spots away (or have 1 door between it and the red door), we can place the blue door as well.
_ _ B _ R
"The purple door: This door is not next to the door to freedom." Also a "hold on to it for now" clue.
"The green door: This door is left of the blue door."
From here, we know the green door is not to the right of the blue door, but we don't know at which spot to the left the green door stands.
"The orange door: This door is not next to the red or blue doors.
"
If we go back to our diagram, we discover that we can place the orange door:
_ _ B _ R
The only place the orange door CAN go is the far left, because that's the only spot that is not next to the Blue door and/or the Red door.
O _ B _ R
Now, looking back at the clue for the green door, since it must be to the left of the blue door, we can place it between the Blue and Orange doors, leaving the last spot for the purple door.
O G B P R
Since the door to freedom must be two spaces away from Blue (so either Orange or Red) and the Purple door is not next to the door to freedom, the Orange door MUST be the door to freedom.
Is that enough of an explanation? Sheesh...
Consequently, the word "door" no longer looks like an actual word.

Don't know why anyone would have trouble with this one. It is quite easy.
Just took a little thought to come up with the correct. answer. Thanks for posting.
Took a couple minutes of lining up doors, but easy overall. Liked it, and no confusion for me
I like problems like this, and I enjoyed it, even though it was rather easy.
Thanks for the explanation, Mrschmooshies (for those that needed one). It's exactly how I solved it. Fun puzzle!
The answer was given away with the first 2 clues.
That was to easy, you should be ashamed......naw just kidding, but it was kinda elementry my dear Watson.

OGBPR is the line of doors.
I loved this puzzle and I got the correct answer. It was a good one!! But what I like the best are the comments!!! I can't believe people get so upset and critical! Thanks to those who showed how the answer was found - nice job!
It seemed logical to me.
I like this type of teaser! How is your weekend, KiPA?
that was pretty cool! hey, how can u post a teaser or sumthing?
Easy one
Such a fooforaw over a logic puzzle so elementary that one could solve it in one's head. Good Lord!
This one wasn't that difficult. I solved it in my head fairly easily, but those who claim they guessed it just based on a single individual clue could have been easily tricked.
The only doors that instantly can be ruled out are the blue door (since it's two spots away) and the green door (since it's next to the blue door, and must be at least two spots away).
The red door could have been the door to freedom, as it's two doors from the blue. The orange door could have been the door to freedom, since it's not next to the blue door (meaning it's at least two doors from the blue, which qualifies it as the door to freedom) or the purple door could be the door (it's not next to the door to freedom if it IS the door to freedom).
All the clues need to be evaluated together to rule out the red and purple doors as possibilities.

Simple and colorful teaser.
If you found the door to freedom, would you open it? What would you do if you were truly free?

I do not know about it being easy, but I chose the Orange door simply because of logic. It just seemed logical to me. Did not care much for the teaser itself. Thanks anyway
2 (two) comments thus far for TOTD this date 2014. Mine (this one) is the third.
That's not many comments, considering the numbers of prior years.
And Gizzer hoped (I HOPE Gizzer HOPED) to stimulate some conversation by asking a question.
"We" are waiting.
YLADS (getting impatient, I agree)

Why is everyone ignoring Gizzer's question??
I can understand ignoring ME ... but Gizzer's a "good guy" .. (gender unknown so we'll go with the generic) ..
THIS is what I've been talking about.
No "rich" comment ... banter ...
.. like in days of 'yore' ,..... like ....
"yore mother wears combat-boots!!"
(wow ... so, yes, I TRIED "BANTER" ... and got nailed for it .... ) ...
Is EVERYONE paranoid about it ...
Has the "offensive" 'gestapo-button' got everyone terrified????
Just askin' ....

EZ and I usually give up and go on to something else when I run into these kinds of teasers.
I love the challenge of this type of teaser. Logic teasers are not the easiest for me, but... the comments are always great! Thanks for posting.
Fun teaser, good work! Simple enough to be enjoyable, yet challenging enough to be interesting.
My only nitpick here has nothing to do with the workings of the puzzle, but just a thing is unrealistic. If you were there in person, you would not need clues indicating the color and location of the doors in relation to each other. You would see exactly the position and color of each door right in front of you. To be realistic at all, the setup would have to be rewritten.

Took only a few seconds to figure out but was fun while it lasted.
I agree doodles so nice without any of the BadBunees.

Any harder and I wouldn't have had the time to solve it. As it was I had to write them all down on a piece of paper. Got it and thought it was great!
To HABS and doodles ....

I had a lot of fun figuring out this riddle, but I do feel bad about any one that got lost. There really should have been an explanation with the teaser.
fun, enjoyable, easy and challenging teaser; I got it pretty quickly.
Fun and entertaining teaser; I got it fairly quickly thru deductive reasoning.
