i love this teaser!! it is like, so awesome!!!! i didn't guess the bonsai though still an awesome teaser!!!
I am glad you liked it. It was inspired by mettalicaman's Hidden Animals. I "wood" love it if someone could help me come up with sentences for spruce and birch. They "stumped" me!
great teaser! It took me almost 10 minutes to find them all. Of course, you got the idea from the best! (ME)
I got all of them except one. Great teaser tamjp

This one was one of my favorites because it only took common sense and a few (maybe 3!) minutes to get all the answers. Way to go. However I didn't get bonsai, I guessed herb. Like duh, who ever heard of an herb tree?!
Fun and not too much of a miss-tree for us!! (mystery forest!-ha ha) Thanks Tamip!
Very Very Nice!! Got all but 2 Still Loved it
Missed apple, believe it or not. I saw MAPLE in that one too. I didn't think that you had used it twice but once I saw that, I was stuck on finding another...
I LOVE these teasers.
I LOVE these teasers.
Bonsai is not a tree - it is a style of growing dwarf trees and shrubs.
I usually try to limit the time I spend on word teasers to a minute or less, as if I were taking a timed test. But this one was worth the extra couple to solve. I've found you can save time by assuming that the answer starts at the end of one word and ends at the beginning of another. Fun!
This was cute but easy!
Good one. Love these kinds of teasers. Got them all, but worked on #5 the longest. Got "ming", "ghost" (is there a ghost tree?) & then finally came up with "bonzai". Don't care if bonzai is not considered a tree--just thought that a bonzai tree was one that had been bonzai'd, so in that respect, "bonzai" could be a tree.
I kno tree-ees Very nice. Twas fun searchin. I got dem EZ.
this one was cool i got all of them
Cute! I was too impatient to figure it out...Good job!
i got all but one
Aug 28, 2005
That was very nice, I didn't get any!
This is one of my favorite kinds of brain-teasers. I got them all and I loved it! I've been working on "spruce" and "birch", but I agree, those are difficult.
Even though i'm not very good at them, i love teasers like this! people need to make more of these!
Pretty good only got one though
this is actully one that I understood only got 3 though
that was fun, took a while but I didn't give up till I found them all!!!
I liked it! It was pretty good!
Thanks for the effort jcann!
I am glad you all enjoyed it!
I am glad you all enjoyed it!
I like these kind of puzzles and enjoyed solving it, but - as several others have noted - bonsai is not the name of a tree but a style of growing trees. Still I really liked solving it
Very well thought up...I really enjoyed it!I ov the teasers like this!...Keep em comin FAST!
loved it! hard for me though... only guessed the oak, maple, palm and apple...

bonsai
juniper tree bon·sai (bn-s, bns, -z) KEY
NOUN:
pl. bonsai
1. The art of growing dwarfed, ornamentally shaped trees or shrubs in small shallow pots or trays.
2. A tree or shrub grown by this method.
ETYMOLOGY:

Hope this helps
I was just going through old friends' teasers, and I came across this one. Great job, I remember when you told my mine inspired it. Come back, you've been gone for to long!
I am touched that you missed me! Real life got in the way of my Braingle addiction. Sorry for the disappearing act.
Glad this one is still giving you all some fun!
Glad this one is still giving you all some fun!
Lots of fun, I love these
that was great even though i missed number 5, oh well cant get them all all the time LOL
AWESOME!!
As others have said, Bonsai is not a tree.
Do better better next time, this was easy, try selecting a non familiar topic, or atleast some obscure "trees" to challenge us.

Great fun! Love these kind of teasers!
Fun teaser ...I got MAPLE twice, even though it is not there even once. I saw MAPPLE as MAPLE.
Very fun. Great job! Thanks!
PS: Curious as to why "cocoa" wasn't the answer for number 3. As far as I know it's also a tree. Thanks again for a fun one!
Like someone else in a prvious comment, I was too impatient to try and figure them out. It was more fun to read the answer then go back and find it in the sentence.
i never would've thought of bonsai. i was looking for things along the line of cherry,...ash,...etc. but i did get maple, palm, pine, and, of course, willow.
This was a great one. I didn't get bonzai, but had fun trying, then ran out of a.m. time.
Imurrary-learningchinese, I think you need to 'do better'. As others have said, Bonsai is not a tree. Well here's what the big guns say about Bonsai trees.
"...the term bonsai also refers to the plants dwarfed by this method." Encyclopedia information about bonsai. The Columbia Electronic Encyclopedia, Sixth Edition Copyright © 2003, Columbia University Press.
Bonsai (Japanese: "tray planting") Living dwarf tree or trees; also, the art of training and growing them in containers. Britannica information about bonsai
Britannica Concise Encyclopedia. Copyright © 1994-2006
Your tree name choices obviously made it a challenging and interesting teaser for real players. Well done.

Metallicman.......get over yourself I have seen your many comments and I think you're a very ignorant person....people work hard on these teasers, so stop cutting others down.....JERK!!!!
Betel nut and gambir chewing, while popular with some locals, is best avoided by tourists in Malaysia.
You're on your own for spruce!
You're on your own for spruce!
Totally Awesome teaser. It takes some common sense and patience to look for/and find ALL of them. Easy enough for a tease, yet difficult to decide upon an answer Keep up the great work.
Great teaser...I had trouble with #5 but I got it before I checked the answer....keep them coming......
I HAVE SAID THIS BEFORE (I THINK) I DON'T LIKE THESE, THEY ARE TOO EASY, NO CHALLENGE AT ALL.
BONSAI IS NOT A TREE, IT IS A METHOD OF GROWING/DWARFING THEM.
BONSAI IS NOT A TREE, IT IS A METHOD OF GROWING/DWARFING THEM.
lmurray, you're all mouth, erroneous and rude as usual. Here a challenge, get a life somewhere...else. BONSAI IS both A TREE and a METHOD. Score: Teaser 1 Teasee 0. Fun and educational teaser, cleverly done.
Hopefully this won't take anything away from tamip's great teaser.
I'll preface this with the comment that "I've been a gentleman up to this point". I figured lmurray would be in "stealth mode" today as "Learning Chinese"... That's just creepy! What I can't figure out (Murray) is why do you persist? Clearly there's a better site out there that best matches your keen intellect (LOL) and sarcastic wit. You clearly "get off" on the attention you receive here (again, that's just creepy). My vote, felllow Brainglers, is that we not give this idiot the time of day. And my hope is that he'll either go away, or that the powers that be will censure him (again), as well as any pseudonyms he likes to hide behind... Sorry for the diatribe, this guy's just weird.

Holy Betel nuts MurfQ! If no one else will give you credit for that one, I will! Still nothin' for Spruce?
I reall liked it you had to think, I finally got all besides bonsai That one really was one of the easier ones , i guess our minds just weren't on that wavelength. thx for the greateffort that must have took
Very good teaser! And who cares if bonsai is technically a tree or a method of growing a tree, it's still assoicated with TREE! Good Job!
Badger...I AGREE COMPLETELY!! Obviously this moron (immury) is feeding of the fact that he upsets so many of the people here...everyone boycott him...that should solve the problem! BTW...he is probably some 12 year old kid sitting at home with an encyclopedia and a dictionary in his lap trying to make people feel stupid...go out and play little one...wait, you probably dont have any friends!
IMURRAY:
GET A LIFE DUDE!!! THIS IS JUST
SUPPOSED TO BE FOR FUN, WHY
DON"T YOU GO TO MENSA, YOU
ARE OBVIOUSLY MORE SUPERIOR

I loved this teaser. Very fun. I agree with Badger. I don't get why some of you get so upset about rude comments that are always posted by the same people. It's obvious what's going on there! Also, WTG Murfq! That was awesome!
I got um' all ecept the last one! Diddn't know aspen was a kind of tree but good one
There's not enough time in life to be negative!
This was fun!
This was fun!
Yay! This old fart got `em all...
makes me feel almost intelligent LOL. Thx for the fun
makes me feel almost intelligent LOL. Thx for the fun
This was fun. not too easy not too hard Just right.
Although I hate to agree with lmurray, the fact is that a bonsai tree would never be found in a forest. Any breed of tree can be grown as a Bonsai tree according to my Japanese friend. I still liked the teaser though. The title was just a wee bit misleading, but who cares. If lmurray didn't like it that's good enough for me to make it one of my favorites.
Despite all the negative comments, i find this teaser is quite interesting, though fairly easy. Nice work. Keep it up and give us more if you can!
i got it, i got it i got it!!!!
and with out peeking. wasn't sure of bonsai, but it was right. this is a gerat teaser, and i enjoyed doing it wonderful great interesting teaser
and with out peeking. wasn't sure of bonsai, but it was right. this is a gerat teaser, and i enjoyed doing it wonderful great interesting teaser
That was a good feel-good teaser, kinda on the easy side in my opinion but I guess after reading the comments it's not the case for everyone. Like mbunap, I realized that all the trees start at the end of one word and end at the beginning of the next, and that really did help. If you did want to do something similar but tougher, you could have the trees hiding backwards....!!!
But for spruce, why not just go ubereasy and say something like:
"I bought myself a bouquet of flowers to spruce up my life."
Kudos to MurfQ for coming up with a sentence for birch!!

very nice!
Wow! Teaser of the day after all this time. I am touched I am glad you all enjoyed it. (Well most of you) I enjoyed making it many moons ago Oh by the way if you read last years comments you would have already seen this but it deserves a good copy and paste!

Awesome sentence MufQ and great idea qrystl
AS I strooled thru the forest,I found all the trees.Shady and cool.
Cool, and not as easy as I expected. I must admit that I didn't get all of them.
Fun! Didn't get the bonsai one, though. Thanks!
Didn't get bonsai, but got ming, though I knew that wasn't the right answer. My mother had a ming tree when I was just a wee child -- it's sort of an artificial bonsai tree. The most extraordinary bonsai I ever saw was a young bonsai redwood once at the San Francisco Flower Show.
Got all of them. Cool teaser! I love it!
By moving the chairs, Pru centered herself in the room!
That was fun.
I got 'em all!
Give us more, please
I got 'em all!
Give us more, please
I loved this teaser! Of course I love all the ones that I can solve!
A lot of fun walking thru the trees. I also found some animals. And a big to GW
...and way to go Shannmo! I missed two of them (got bonzai!)-my eyes were growing weary! Fun-thank you!
I even solved Jimmyb's teaser which he wrote in 2006.
Reading down it is tree house. That was fun also

Fun! Enjoyed it! Very nice job. Only had trouble with Oak -- for some reason, I just couldn't see that one!
FUN! Got them all. I won't bother to bring up bonsai. The point has been made.
Easy, FUN...bonsai IS the "name" of a tree!!
Got 'em all!
I found this more entertaining than many others of this type. I thought the answers "hid" in the sentences nicely. Sometimes they jump right out. This was very good. Bonsai made me laugh.
Fun, easy and entertaining teaser; I got them all fairly quickly but enjoyed the challenge.
