Answer
A ClarinetClarinets are usually made out of wood. The sound is made by the vibration of a single piece of cane which is attached to the mouthpiece. The keys of the clarinet are fingered in various ways in order to alter the pitch of the instrument. The lower section of the clarinet is called 'the bell' because it resembles the general shape of a bell.
The term 'Denner' in the title refers to the inventor of the clarinet - J.C. Denner, a German instrument maker.

now comes the hard part,,,finding that heirloom, handed down to me, now somewhere in my attic.

ahhh...find it...clean it up...replace the pads...then hours of brain-numbing long notes until your tone returns!
Good job! I figured it was an instrument but wasn't sure which one. I actually thought it could have been a percussion type.
I was far from guessing it, but the solution really made me smile. Clarinets are awesome!
easy, fun. Although traditionally made from wood, most are sadly now made from plastics.
Recognized Denner's name,Made it easy.
great riddle, nicely written... pretty easy for an instrument fanatic like me, but i still enjoyed every bit of it!
Learned something today!
I have to agree with bestgirl. Nice riddle,, enjoyed it very much. Thanks for posting Jazz.
Good riddle, I knew it had to be an instrument, but sadly I could not come up with the right one.
NICE!!
Excelent ! Sadly did not get it Sadly because Clarinet is my favorite jazz instrument (Woody Herman) Thanks for the Denner tidbit. A day without learning is like a day without sunshine.
Yay, I got it! Well, my best friend plays it, but still . . . Nice teaser!
That was pathetic for me. I play clarinet, had it in my hand, and still, I didn't get the answer.
I got close, but couldn't come up with clarinet.
Good one.
Good one.
Tantallising! A worthwhile and fun teaser. Tq.
I guessed piano, but did not make the connection with bells etc. only thought about the wood and the keys. I played clarinet in high school but did not know about those things you mention. I just played it.
EZ teaser. HAPPY EASTER
I didn't get this one, but learned a few things - thanks for posting! Thanks, Cutebug, for the Easter wish. I hope everyone who celebrates Easter has a very happy, blessed day!
Pretty easy but fun. I thought piano after the first line, but then realized it was a clarinet fairly quickly.
Hope everyone has a good holiday.

Doesn't a sax apply too? Oh well, I geussed woodwind instruments
Sax doesn't apply because the clue was "usually" made of wood.
I figured it had to be a musical instrument but was stumped by the "bell" clue. I thought it had to be either invented by someone named Denner or in a placed called Denner from the puzzle name. My early idea was leading me to something like an accordion or bagpipes. I had to do a search on "Denner invention" to find clarinet.
You had to be into music and musical instruments to get that one. It seems that way to me anyhow. Good for those who got it and a big hooray for those that said it was easy!
Didn't get it, and I played clarinet in elementary school. Btw- synthetic reeds are made for clarinets, though not the norm.
A Denner Bell?
I knew it had to be an instrument of some kind, but wasn't sure which one at first. I narrowed it down to just a few with the bell clue. Finally decided on the clarinet. Another good one Jazz. Keep them coming.

Pretty good. Easy if you are familiar with instruments, but still fun. Instructive too. The answer taught me things I did not know.
Fun, educational and entertaining teaser. I also guessed piano. I knew nothing about clarinets and did not know any other instruments such as those has keys.
