Trick
Trick brain teasers appear difficult at first, but they have a trick that makes them really easy.Trick
Mr. Jones and his team of eight men were exploring a pyramid to reach a fabled treasure in the center. Their rival team, led by Mr. Smith, was also in pursuit of the treasure. The two teams had entered from opposite sides of the pyramid.
When both teams reached the treasure room, they found a case surrounding the treasure. The case could not be moved or taken from the room unless the riddle was solved. The groups read the following on the side of the case:
"Not a single man may open this chest, for he who does will be cursed for all eternity."
Not a single man took the treasure, but when both groups left the pyramid, Mr. Smith's group had the treasure with them. How is it possible that they weren't cursed?

Hint
The answer is not "There was no real curse", and the treasure was not taken by multiple men.Answer
Mr. Smith's wife had come on the trip along with his team. She was the one who removed the treasure because not a single MAN could remove it.Hide Hint Show Hint Hide Answer Show Answer

Good one. Easy but fun.
The question never mentioned the wife being there.
I thought it was cause they only took but didn't open it
I agree. There should be something the puzzle that says that they could not move the chest to remove that possible answer. But otherwise this could be a good trick teaser.
agreed
i agree wit vivica i also tut it waz dey took it but nvr open it
OH! lmao good riddle! keepp it up!
i assumed more than one man took it
I was thinking that they just took the whole case because the curse only goes if the case was opened.
I got it but it was waaaaaaaay to easy. He never said that there weren't women on the trip. Women are not men therefore not affected.
lol that was really easy. i figured it out from the start.
I thoght that either:
a) it was a woman
b) two men did it (not a single man)
c) they took it without opening it. therefore still possessing the treasure.

My guess was they they took it as a group, therefore not a single man took it. I'd have to say this is confusing, but isn't that what trick teasers are supposed to be? Thanks for posting.
If it was "not a single man", I'm sure a married man could have done it as well. Unfortunately, that is not the exact phrasing of the teaser.
Not to defend this teaser and it's wording but if you consider the answer then you must think that there was something special about Mr. Smiths group. Something different that allowed them to get it while Mr Jones' group had to leave it...so what could that be? Then you will find that less of the answers posted here make as much sense as a woman in the group...although I agree it should say "cannot open OR move the treasure"
I got it!!! Easy but really fun!
I agree with the other statements, I thought they just took it with them, but didn't open it. If you said that they couldn't open it OR move it, then it would be a better teaser.
I thought a member of the team who was a woman opened it.
But anyway...
The old "man" thing again...classic teaser method

The answer is legitimate but I'm not too happy with it because there are so many other possible answers.
1. A woman (so, not a "man)
2. More than one man.
3. A married (not single) man
4. They didn't *open* the case.
=/

I know, I tried correcting it.
for those of you who thought the answer could be multiple men, it can't. and the reason why is verrrry obvious. THE HINT SAYS SO. not to be rude, i'm just saying. sorry if anyone was offended, and sorry if the quiz was edited after you made the comments, but they were pretty recent. easy, but fun. nice job!
Yeah, I focused on the "not a SINGLE man" too. I guess I should've read the clue, but how was I supposed to know a woman went along? It said it was a team of MEN... Still a fun one.
Never said Mr. Smith's team was all men.
Wow I thought you meant not a SINGLE man can open it as in a non-married man can't open it. My guess was that one of the men was married and he was able to take it. Cute though.
I was thinking not a single man, but multiple. That was great!
those who have watched 'the lord of the rings 3' hundreds of time could have answered this easily
Never thought of that

thought of something alonf those lines, i just thought a married man went in and took it.
There are multiple answers for this question, try detailing a bit more.
l also thought it would be a married man (since he's not single) Nice teaser!
Nice riddle- though I've heard one exactly the same. But it wasn't in a pyramid
I am amused by the comment that anyone who has watched Lord of the Rings 3 hundreds of times would get it. Sorry to be snarky, but what about those that read the books? ;)
Although I came up with the right answer, I was hoping it would be that a married man took it. Because he's not a single man, either!

Lol, I thought it was more than one man, too. Like not a single man meaning not just one man.
I really like this teaser. Call me a feminist.
Excellent Teaser, very good.
I'm really surprised that people didn't get this one right off the bat; I could tell that the answer was going to be something to do wiht a woman just from looking at the title. Though that might be because I have seen puzzles like this before.
I thought that mr smith was married and mr jones was not so mr jones was single so he couldnt take the treasure
I guessed it was a married man, but I seem to remember seeing another teaser with a similar answer, so I didn't think it was a duplicate ;). Nice one anyway ;).
Got it right. Good Teaser!
There's a similar riddle on one of fave computer games. Sweet. GIRL POWER!
nice teaser! I liked the story that went along with it
I thought the answer would be "not a single man can open the chest or else they would be cursed"
Since you said they had to open the chest to be cursed. They just took the treasure out of the pyramid unopened and uncrused.

I thought a married man took it
It said "not a single man could OPEN the chest". So when they took it they wern't cursed because they didn't open it.
I was thinking that they opened it together since it forbid a SINGLE man, but not a GROUP of them. Nice teaser.
Am I the only one who thought that a married man removed the chest? That would make sense too.
Thought it was a MARRIED, not single, man.
Because the answer has many answers, I believe most of our answers are correct.
I, too, got married man (just from reading the title).
I, too, got married man (just from reading the title).
i thought he was married because not a SINGLE man could take it
I got either a women, or two men. But then the hint... so, I can see the confusion with several answers.
I thought multiple men took it, but then I read the hint and figured it out
I got to married man as well.
I thought that a man who was single couldn't open it, as in a married man had to.
thought it was because he was a married man he could take it
I thought was because one was a married man
I also thought it was a married man
Ummm ok. It would be better if it were a married man... like everyone else is saying...
Very easy...well if you call having to read the same sentence 6 times "easy"... but i got it
This one definitely tripped me up! I thought it meant single as in that the man had no wife/girlfriend/husband/boyfriend or what have you. Good job XD
