Tag the Teacher
Logic-Grid
Logic Grid puzzles come with a handy interactive grid that will help you solve the puzzle based on the given clues.Logic-Grid
Sam and three other teachers work in a block of four adjacent classrooms, numbered A6, A7, A8, and A9. Although (perhaps) they don't deserve it, their students have created quite uncomplimentary nicknames for them; one is 'Flabbz'.
From this information, and the clues below, can you determine which room each teacher uses, and their nicknames?
1. When 'Gonzo' teaches, she is so loud that her voice disturbs Jan and 'The Wasp', who work in the rooms adjacent to hers.
2. The four teachers are Liz, the teacher in Room A7, 'Crustie' (who does not teach in A8), and the only male teacher, Mike.
3. Jan does not teach at either end of the classroom block.

Hint
Clue #1 holds an indirect clue that is easy to miss.It is quite tricky to solve this using the grid, so you may prefer to work with a diagram.
e.g. || A6 | A7 | A8 | A9 ||
If you are stuck, try placing the teachers in clue #1 first. There are four ways to do that, some of which will be rejected by applying clue #2.
Answer
A6: 'Crustie' SamA7: 'Flabbz' Jan
A8: 'Gonzo' Liz
A9: Mike 'The Wasp'
Solution:
'Gonzo' (a woman - #1) is between Jan and 'The Wasp' (#1). Jan is not at either end (#3) so the only possibilities have "6: 'Wasp', 7: 'Gonzo', 8: Jan" and "7: Jan, 8: 'Gonzo', 9: 'Wasp'."
Clue #2 mentions four teachers; hence four different rooms. If we use the option with 'Wasp' in 6, then 'Crustie'=9, leaving 7 and 8 for Liz and Mike. However, this option has Jan in 8, so it is rejected.
The remaining possibility has 'Wasp' in 9, 'Gonzo'=8, so (applying #2) 'Crustie'=6, and 'Flabbz'=7.
Jan is in 7, so Mike and Liz must be in 8 and 9. Gonzo, in 8, must be female (#1) so Liz=8, Mike=9, leaving Sam=6.

Great job. Complex enough that I had to start over once (whoops) but easy enough to solve quickly once the clues were understood!
I was never good at solving grid puzzles, but it made my mind analyze a bit better. Great job! I suggest you try solving Einstein's riddle... It was a hard grid puzzle. If you already did, do you know the answer? Give me some advice!

nice job! I can't say it was difficult, but it was quite fun! It probably would have been harder if it had ben larger, with more people to get confused.
I don't think I would mind being "The Wasp"! But the other names don't sound as fun

The premise for this made me laugh. Thanks for an entertaining puzzle!
HOw does one determine what teacher is matched to what nickname? This was confusing and difficult to me, but a good teaser, I guess. It seem funny to me as well. We all gave our teachers nicknames...
Maybe I'm just a little slow today, but I did not understand how you got to where the teachers were. Overall, it was confusing.
Good teaser
Very nice! Only disturbance: The GridSolver is messed up ... Neither in Firefox nor in IE it is shown correctly ... the only GridSolver so far with that problem ...
