Brain Teasers
Clean Me a Lot
One example of where you will find me,
Is many locations inside of one building.
When I'm new I'm remarkably plain,
But after first use, I'm never the same,
People clean me a lot, but I'm never like new,
The changes come off, but leave residue.
You will have seen me in your early years,
I'm definitely a tool for the eyes, not the ears,
But there is a sound that I can make,
To cause the strongest man to quake.
I feel I should give more of a clue,
But I don't want to make it too easy for you.
I may have bored you, or enthralled,
But can you tell me what I'm called?

Riddles only make sense to me after I know the answer. Cleverly written - thanks This is a new teaser for me - let's see how Doehead and Sis like it!
Although this was a good riddle, I knew the answer immediately. Not to burst the writers bubble, but I have seen this before in a magazine. And a to GiMi & AS

My first thought was of a shiny waxed floor and the sound of rubber soled shoes squeaking across it.
Do schools still use chalk boards? I would have thought by now most would use dry erase white boards.
I said eraser. We have dry erase boards, but that's a really good teaser.
Excellent teaser. I didn't get it right, but after reading the answer, of course it makes perfect sense.
It popped into my head right away. I thought it was very well done, but kind of easy.
Hi to Gayle, doehead, and of course Bobbi.

This is the second time round for me , but still a good one after these 3 years.
'But there is a sound that I can make,
To cause the strongest man to quake."
This gave it away for me but the teaser was well written.

Great riddle. Well written. I guessed other things, but the answer made perfect sense. Thanks for a good one!
Very good riddle. The "sound" part also is what gave it to me. Otherwise I probably would not have gotten it.
Forgive me all, but I dont get how "sound" gives the answer away. Perhaps, it's because of our cultural difference.
PS: I would appreciate it if someone told me

The sound being referenced is the sound of fingernails on the board.

I'm right there with everyone else! The second I read that line, it hit me like a ton of bricks. I can actually hear that noise in my ears just thinking about it.
What a great riddle! A lot of fun to read, and although the above line gave it away for many of us, I still enjoyed reading the riddle and guessing.

A fun riddle. I figured it out like most others, for sure, by the sounds clue.
I thought it was a (bathroom) mirror! Some of the clues didn't make sense and others seemed to be forced to fit, so no surprise that I was mistaken! Thanks for the puzzle!
