The Battle
Eight in a row,
with nowhere to go,
except for the two
who can jump straight through.
Eight out in front,
not one a runt.
Across the range,
to make a change.
By foot or by horse,
they stay the course.
Til the victory is won,
And the battle is done.

A chess matchThe first stanza is about the 8 pieces in the back row who can't move because of the pawns in front of them, except for the knights who can 'jump right through'.
The second stanza refers to the pawns, not one a runt, as they are all the same size. And the second part refers to them moving across the board to change into another piece on the far side.
The last stanza refers to movement by regular, 'foot soldiers', or by the 'horse', knight pieces and that the game continues until one side wins.

Super easy but I like this one a lot!
Very smart! Even though I got it on the first verse, I thought it was very clever how it was worded.
thank you. i am glad to hear you like it. i know it is easy, but it just popped ibto my head almost fully formed and I like to go easy on occasion, knowing the age range of Brainglers.
Good teaser; very clever! However, that being said, not every match has a victor - some end in a draw.
True, but I could not figure out how to rhyme that part.
Understood, fishmed.
I don't know anything about chess so it was difficult for me. Very clever though! My boyfriend knows how to play chess I might see if he can show me.
easy, but i still liked it
That was a very easy teaser, yet a very satisfying and fun one! Good job! Maybe try posting ones about checkers, backgammon, or other common board games.
