Aaaand, just like that, it's been a month! But, it's nice to see some chatting going on and a new thread started!

Happy St. Patrick's Day a little late. We invented a drink for St. Patrick's Day last year that seems to have caught on this year called the Four-leaf Latte. It's my matcha-based healthier version of the shamrock shake at that fast-food place. Still sweet and the perfect color, but with the matcha it's a lot better than non-dairy soft-serve!

Froggy, I would love to have you and the Sarge come up! I'm here Tuesday-Saturday most weeks. This week and in a couple of weeks, I have some things going on where I will be out, but most of the time, I'm here 5 days.

Randy- I'm sure the kitchen remodel will be wonderful! And I love before and after pics! So much fun to see how different things look.

Grayma- I am very happy to read that you are recovering, if slowly! Keep relaxing, and hopefully, you'll be running again soon!

I love a good cake!
Recently I made a poppy seed cake - it had so much poppy seed in it, it was almost black! Glazed with milk chocolate! Yum! The cake was eaten that day!

It is April 29 and we all thought Spring had sprung. This afternoon my daughter checked to see what our one little black cat was chattering about. She was sitting on the back of the couch, looking out the window and just making like a magpie - what a racket she was making. An how my daughter first saw one little bitty bunny in the flower bed right under the window where Skip was sitting.

She kept looking and wound up counting 4 itsty-bitsy darling little bunnies. We figured mom was out having lunch somewhere and would be back shortly. We knew enough to leave them alone. And of course we are in a storm warning area for heavy rain and snow. Yuck!

So after the daughter and her boyfriend got all spiffied up, they were going down to the club as my daughter is getting a team together to play female 9 ball (pool). As soon as they stepped out they found out it was just pouring rain and her first thought was "Oh the bunnies." They are on the south side of the house, out of the wind, but just a few plant leaves to keep the rain off them. Yes they were still there, yes they were getting wet, no, we can't bring them in the house, mom isn't back yet - hope she wasn't supper for a neighborhood cat or dog nor road kill on the street. So my grandson has a little kid's table outside that he has been using to paint things on - it's plastic so no problem. The boyfriend sat the little table over them and they just stayed huddled up. Sure am hoping for those little guys. And our big old Tom cat is in the grandson's room. Never forget last year when he had presented our back porch with the skinned out baby bunny.

I know you have to leave wild beasties along, but this old woman's heart hurts when I think a baby animal is hurting.

Grayma... the table is the least thing I would have done... but I totally would have done that. I probably would have built a larger table and placed it out there over them. Would have put sides on at least three sides... to help keep the cold winds if any from them. Anyway, not knowing anything more about this boyfriend... he seems to be a keeper! I am an animal lover and the only animals, if you want to call them that...would be rats and well, maybe mice... that I would rather get rid of.

My wife sort of yelled at me many years ago, because I was sitting on our front porch while she was away and our front lawn sprinklers were on. A little field mouse kept coming out from under the hedge between the yards and running through the sprinklers, then it would dash back for a bit. I laughed so hard watching it cool itself off... and you know, I had no ill feelings for this little creature. He was trying to survive the heat; and frankly, he was not IN my house. I was okay with that. A rat... no chance in heck that I would let him survive if I could catch the wild rat. Domestic rats (Ben) are fine... but not wild ones. Bunnies... they only destroy gardens, don't they? They need to eat too... better fences around gardens can stop them... and leave food out for them to eat. I guess I have little experience to wild rabbits. Help us idiots out on this one!?!

Well even with my warnings last night about leaving the bunnies alone, my daughter and her son had to check on them this morning. Only two of them left and fearing the feral tom cats we have in the neighborhood I now have two little tiny bunnies in a box with a warmer and a covering over them in my room. They do have their eyes open and are chunky. My daughter, "But Mom, two of them are already gone." Yeah but, maybe the momma was moving them and now she is two babies short." But mom, they were laying in mud.

Since we do not have any rehabilitators here I did call the conservation officer out at our reserve area. He asked me a bunch of questions and basically told me everything I already knew. We didn't wind up with all the snow we were to get, but have a freezing rain dropping around all over, so I guess, at least for now we have a couple bunnies. If I can keep them alive until the weather lets up I will try to teach my family how to renest the little guys and see if momma will come back to check her nest. Oh the urge to cuddle and hold them! But cottontails have a high rate of anguish, aniety (sp). Wish me luck.

Randy, I just had to pick this up off the other social site in response to my remarks I had made here last week in one of our games. You got so tickled at me saying we had "My Favorite Party Shoppe" right behind our local funeral home. I saw this tonight when I first logged on and I just knew I had to copy it over here so you could see I wasn't just dreaming things up. And as you can see, the Mother's Day Bling for their product, it isn't a Dime Store like we used to have. But I just meant to share and I don't see any thing illegal on this for posting to Brangle.

My Favorite Party Shoppe feeling lovely.

I just felt it seemed inappropriate to have a party shop close to a funeral home...

I think that building has been a sore spot for the owner. It is my understanding that this building was the original funeral home, you know when they used to have them in what looked like a home? They built the new funeral home next door on the lot that gave them frontal traffic on two sides. Rather than retaining the old place it was sold.

The new owner opened a steak house, very good place to eat and entertain. The upstairs became an apartment that was rented out. After several years the steak house moved to another town and a friend of mine ran what she called "The Waterbed World." It had enough room that she had I think five units set up on her showroom floor. She bought a home a couple miles outside town and rather than pay rent, she moved her business out to her home.

A new owner bought the unit, broke it up into four different rentals for businesses - CPA - The Party Shoppe - Commercial Cleaners, not for clothing, but someone for hire to clean commercial buildings or sell supplies so they could do it themselves, and then kind of a kiddie shop where you could buy like stocking stuffers for grade school age children, along with Mylar balloons. And all the time the upper floor has been maintained as an apartment.

Yes, you can tell I am an assessor, with the inside knowledge of a lot of our town's commercial buildings. I thought I no longer would look at a building and run all these thoughts through my mind - but I guess that information never goes away.

I just got flirted with in a PM:

"How are you doing and how is the weather over there? Hope fine? I am Frank. I'm looking for a serious relationship, an attractive lady with friendly personality, and good family values, with a sense of adventure, a fun easy spirit, that have love for a happy life. I'm an energetic person that loves life, and likes to meet new people. Always looking for new experience, I am strong, loving, open minded, and honest, looking for someone that is fun and always happy to be with, and would smile as often as I do, basically know how to enjoy life to the fullest. I am really interested in knowing you. Write me back at **** at gmail com. Thank you for taking your time to read my message."

I did old Frank a favor by not including his gmail user name.

Sorry dude, I'm married. I think you should try a dating website... braingle not so much.

Well Randy, I don't want you to think you are the only one around as I got the exact same message on June 18th. I ignored it, thought about reporting it to the powers that be as this is not exactly "family site" material.

I know I am so self protecting, not only myself, but also with my real family and my virtual family. I do remember how what seemed like a nice person affected so many young ladies on Braingle. In fact I just wrote a personal letter to one of these girls who has just recently gotten married. She was so appreciative that I had been keeping an eye on her after all these years, and I was happy to see that she did get her life back on track, set her own goals and attained them.

Even "Cameron" got her life together and progressed with it. I myself will always have unanswered questions, but instead of fretting about the past I instead try to keep my eyes out, hoping to keep myself and others from being pulled into another catfish scheme.

I suppose there is a time and place for messages like we got Randy. But Braingle is not one of them.

I refer all Braingle members to my ATTENTION post on June 3, and suggest that if you do receive such PMs, that you let Jake know via the Report SPAM/Offensive. tab on the lower right corner or all PMs.

Huh? It was whoviandeb who got the message, how did I get involved as having received one? Or is Who's real name Randy too?
