Situation
Situation puzzles (sometimes called lateral thinking puzzles) are ones where you need to ask lots of yes or no questions to figure out what happened in the situation. These are good puzzles for groups where one person knows the puzzle and answers the questions.Situation
A surgeon plans a four-day series of procedures at a well-known local venue. He shows up at the appointed time Thursday morning and works hard all day, but ends the day unsatisfied with his performance. After performing just as poorly on Friday, he has not made a cut, and the governing officials of the venue inform him that he has to leave now, after only two of the four days. The surgeon fully expects this dismissal due to his performance. He tosses his bag of instruments into his trunk, slams the lid, and returns home.
What has the surgeon been doing for two days?
What has the surgeon been doing for two days?
Hint
What activity sometimes associated with doctors has a performance review halfway through?Answer
He's been playing in a golf tournament. He did poorly, and "missed the cut". Players who finish below a certain point in the standings after two days are cut from the tournament. "Slamming the trunk" (with your golf clubs inside) is tournament slang for missing the cut.Hide Hint Show Hint Hide Answer Show Answer
