Brain Teasers
The Daffodil
Situation
Situation puzzles (sometimes called lateral thinking puzzles) are ones where you need to ask lots of yes or no questions to figure out what happened in the situation. These are good puzzles for groups where one person knows the puzzle and answers the questions.Situation
Amy was very sad, because her best friend, Narcissa, just died. On her way to the funeral, she stopped by a flower shop and asked for daffodils to bring to Narcissa's grave. The man was really lazy and didn't want to walk over to the other cooler to get the flowers (he was the only one allowed to touch the flowers). He suggested roses instead, because they were right next to him. She gave him such a hard time about daffodils, that he finally got her the flowers, and she went on her way. Why did she want the daffodils so badly?
Answer
Amy's friend's name was Narcissa. She was named after the character from Greek myth Narcissus, who is also the namesake of the daffodil. The daffodil is part of the genus, Narcissus.
