Oh Say Can You See?
What was the largest, single, man-made object visible with the naked eye to Neil Armstrong when he first stepped onto the moon's surface?
Hint
It's not the Wall.Answer
The Lunar Landing Module - Contrary to popular belief, no man-made terrestrial object, including the Great Wall of China, can be seen from the surface of the moon. However, Mr. Armstrong could definitely see the Lunar Lander from which he had just stepped.Hide Hint Show Hint Hide Answer Show Answer

gj on this, i got it tho
I honestly didn't even think about the Great Wall. At first I thought maybe the pyramids, but then I thought, hang on, no. and I figured it out. Good work!
hmmm ... shouldn't it be the space suit?
Tricky....
I got that within 5 seconds O_o; After that though, I doubted he would look back and would see his finger, which is in the spacesuit or something. But then I thought about how it said the LARGEST. Oh well.
Hee hee hee, i think this one's great!!
what the heck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
HA! I knew it! I got it right! Ok, I didn't have the right name for it, but I knew it was the thing he stepped out of. That's very interesting, though. The Wall can't be seen from the moon? Is it only from orbit or something?
Oh I was sure it was the wall...

Ladies and Gentlemen....Im going to tell you this now not because you can start an argument with your friends or make fun of people, but so whenever somebody says this you know they are wrong. You cant see the Great Wall of China from space. You can\'t see the Great Wall of China from anywhere except on earth. The GWoC is 9 horses high and can only hold 10 people from left to right. Most Highways and Interstates are bigger then the GWoC
-Mr. Bloomhuff
Thats my geography teachers that told me that. So the Lunar Landing Module makes perfect sense. I just thought I would share this tidbit of information with you all that still believe.

Good teaser, but very obvious.
That was really easy and obvious - unless, of course, he had his back to the ship which he had just disembarked and looked down where he was stepping - then he would see whatever was covering his foot!
------ATTENTION-------
You CAN see the GWoC from space (orbit at least) because I've seen a picture from space OF the wall. I don't remember where I saw the pic, maybe a web surfer (which I'm not) can find it. But YES, YOU CAN see it. It is the ONLY man made object in which you can see from orbit.

to save anyone else trying it, that link doesn't work *sniffle* i wanted to see the great wall of china from space (i recall seeing a pic of it somewhere in my youth)
OK, I don't know why the link wouldn't work. I just tried it and no, it wouldn't work.
ALL YOU HAVE TO DO is a little research by looking up the great wall....I'm no computer wiz and I found a crud load of PIC's. That lead me to the link I found.
SOMEONE BACK ME UP PLZ

BS. Snopes (one of the best Urban Legend sites on the Web) has the facts from the sources. There are hundreds, if not thousands, of man-made objects visible from space with the naked eye, and the Great Wall may not be one of them (depending on lighting, etc.).

What you say is true. There are so many things visible from space, but that is from orbit, not while standing on the moon. Thus, what you are referring to does not apply here.
considering neil armstrong did not go outside without a helmet, wouldnt it be obvious that anything he saw was seen THROUGH the helmet, as in, he saw the helmet first, and then stuff outside of it?
I was commenting on RABID's comment....I will agree w/ the teaser...it is a TRICKEY one....but true.
I mearly wanted to world to know that YES, the Great Wall CAN BE SEEN FROM SPACE (not the moon).
RABID needs to research before making comments. I DID!

Anyways, I liked it, and the funny comments, and the other teasers that I solved during the time that [coughs] other people waste doing useless research...
Just kidding. Great teaser, and great determination in those of you just trying to prove your points.

Oh!you really stumped me.I did not know that
It was too obvious not to get it right. I like it (but don't we all like something that makes us feel smart).
This one should DEFINITELY not be under the 'trick' category. More like trivia. There are no 'trick' elements in this teaser!
Yes! THE SPACE SHUTTLE DUDEAMATHINGY! Exactly! w00t
I thought that shieldy thing in front of their face would be the first thing they see...
The question was "what is the LARGEST", not "what is the FIRST".
And while you can see the Great Wall from space, you can't see it from the moon.

I knew it was his rocket or whatever.
Phrebh is exactly right.
Ah... but so am I...
Didn't see that one there...
Okay. Um... I guess this teaser is right, then.
