Brain Teasers
Tight Rope
The Ringmaster gave his 25 acrobats a challenge. He challenged them to walk over the smallest tight rope (in width) in the world. He said to each one of the acrobats, "You can do it, trust me." Each acrobat attempted the walk, but only one acrobat successfully walked the rope to the other side. Every acrobat said, "The ringmaster was right in what he said to all of us." How was the ringmaster right if only one acrobat walked the rope to the other side?
Answer
One of the names of the acrobats was You, therefore making the ringmaster's statement true.Hide Answer Show Answer

talk about confidence in only 1 person.
I know!
I thought it was, they could do it, but would need to practice, because he didn't say, you will do it
I hate trick questions
I thought of two other tricks (IMHO, they are a little more clever): Either A) The one who did it "walked over" the rope, simply stepping from one side to the other, or as the last sentence said, "walked the rope over," meaning that the one acrobat picked it up and carried it to wherever. Syntax in trick questions is very important...
i was just thinking it was on the ground, oh well.
lol, I said not really meaning it that maybe one of the acrobats name was You, lmao, and I guessed right!
I thought the one that made it carried all of the others on his shoulders. When I thought of that, I thought "Hey, this was pretty cool." But it turns out I was wrong and, you know what? I like my answer better. Good teaser anyway.
Who would name their kid You?
I know someone in Hong Kong, name Uwe, but You?

That was kinda lame..............Clever yes....but Lame...
Funny but... weird. How were you supposed to know that??!!
I agree with supernetz. I did pick up on use of plural and also "you" but didn't come up with the correct answer.
u should have given the acrobat an asin acsent becuse you(im not shure of the corect spelling of thre name but it sounds like you) is asian
When the ringmaster said 'walk the rope to the other side' I too thought of carrying it. As well as one person carrying the others across. How in the world should anyone be able to guess someones name is You. Considering that anyone named that is not going to spell it that way. Anybody could make a teaser w/ a play on names like that. So I guess that one should have never got past the editors. But congrats because they liked yours better than mine. (4 reject votes so far )
how were we 'sposed to know their name was 'YOU'....i thought it was stupid
i guessed that only one of them trusted him - the person that trusted the ringmaster was the person that was able to make it to the other side...
Funny, But in the "real world," who would ever name his (or her) son (or daughter) "You"?? lol lol lol
hey i thought it was pretty good! my friend liked it too!
that was great! I never would have guessed that.
i said that they all trusted him
i thought they all might have walked out onto the rope together and so only one person actually reached the end of the rope at the other side. but i personally like the real answer. if the riddle was spoken aloud, then you wouldn't have this spelling of the name issue.
With its flaws and all, cute.
In the same way the acrobat could be called Trust Me.
Or one guy was named "You can do it, trust me"!!! He was just called by name!
How many of these riddles are simple derivatives of "Who's on first?" Get a new gimmick...
this could have been funnier. The acrobat could have put the tight rope on the ground and simply walked over the length of it, or stepped over it.
