Jumping Frogs
Trick
Trick brain teasers appear difficult at first, but they have a trick that makes them really easy.Trick
I used a pick and scraped the side of the frog really hard, but the frog didn't move, didn't get hurt, and was very much alive. How is this possible?
Answer
The frog is actually a part of a horse's hoof. The little triangle in the center of the hoof is called the frog. The pick I was using was a horse pick to pick out the horse's hoof. The side of the hoof is very hard but sensitive, so I had to pick the rocks out so the horse wouldn't get hurt!Hide Answer Show Answer

I love horses but had no idea that there was a part of the hoof that was called a frog. I was starting to think you were just a mean person for picking up a frog and scraping it really hard with a pick for no reason LOL . But it's cool because you were actually just helping a horse out. LOL > Educational teaser, didn't know a horse could be a frog too, lol. Good job, needless to say I didn't get it right.

That one was kinda easy for me. only cause I work with horses
That was good! Informative as well, I thought it was a laboratory frog, long dead !!! Morbid!

Dang! and it is not as if I don't have 10 of the froggy things!!!
I never heard of that before.
I used to ride frequently too.

I am crazy about horses, but didnt get that one! ! But the "very much alive" part completely through me off !! great teaser though, glad to learn something!
The very much alive part that u all were confused about was there b/c the horse was very much alive, and so the part of the horse, the frog, had to be very much alive too. Sort of like I'm alive, and so my foot is alive too, because it still can grow. Sorry if it was confusing!
Ha! Made me smile. I got it within seconds, as I'm always around horses, but it was still cute. I like the title, too...
One word: dang
so how is it alive?
it sure hurts my horses when i scrape the frog of their hooves with a pick... if you do it gently, i guess it's ok, but it usually hurts them
The frog is still alive? How can horse's foot still be alive?
To add to the above comment.
Otherwise, a very good teaser. Full stars.

My sister would have thought of the answer because she is a horse lover.
I concur with the sentiment that it is generally accepted that the smallest unit that can be considered "alive" would be a single organism. However, I recognize that saying something like "and did not change state from being animate to being inanimate" does not flow well...
