I love that word!
Cute
i love how the hint is just as well written as the riddle itself
love that word, too.....and the title is cute - but I would have said
"sitting on a cushion in the bathroom"
"sitting on a cushion in the bathroom"
the title is from when i was learning the word when i was in grade 6. i remembered it by saying 'on a mat on a pier', but since that would have been a dead give away i thought i'd rephrase it slightly.
glad you like the teaser

Great teaser...well thought out!

Dictionary.com has the following definition for onomatopoeia: "The formation or use of words such as buzz or murmur that imitate the sounds associated with the objects or actions they refer to"
While I agree with gosh, and gulp, I have to disagree with almost all of the others. Murmur is even listed as an example in the dictionary. You obviously worked hard on this teaser, but the answer is just plain wrong. Excellent try, though.

how is the answer wrong?
i agree, not all the words that i used to come up with onomatopoeia (which i now can't remember how to spell) are onomatopoeic, but that doesn't change the fact that the letters spell out onomatopoeia

My apologies. You're right. I meant to say that the clues were a poor choice to represent the riddle. Perhaps I should quit reading riddles when I firs tget up..
hehe, that's ok, i thought i'd gone mad - i could have sworn that the letters spelt out onomatopoeia. i did try and use onomatopoeic words, but it's a lot harder than it looks!!
Excellent riddle, wicked word. I loved it!
Decades ago there was a radio programme in Rhodesia. The contestant substitued this word for "on a mat a peer".

I was on the right track (in finding the letters) but I just couldn't figure any word from that letter,,, Of course it's because I didn't know the word onameaetapia (or whatever ) FUN teaser!!!
Got me!
Fun! I got the letters, but could not figure out the word. Good job!
The clues were not enough to spell it out explicitly, but there was only one thing that could fit after that.
Nice teaser!
Nice teaser!
I can't believe I got it...a lot of work was obviously put into this teaser! Great job!
I like the hint, but it would rhyme more nicely if you said jokin' instead of joking.
Great teaser, I also love the word, and it was a worthy task that I enjoyed very much. Thank you.
Nice one. Got it based on the hint before solving the puzzle but still enjoyed the idea and implementation.
Took pen to paper and learned a new word. Thanks.
Started to figure it out then looked at the hint and knew the answer with only the first 3 letters worked out.
Took some time, but I prevailed. Nice teaser
I solved that one methodically and got it quickly. Kind of surprised at myself. There are some words that are fun to say and this is one of them! I always forget the definition of this word, however. Thanks for a good one!

I figured it out halfway through. Not to hard, but I like that you chose words to fit the theme.
