"Hurry up, Alexa!" I shouted as I struggled with the door knob, which proved difficult to turn in my heavy gloves, "We are going to be late!"
My sister, Alexa, appeared from around the corner and helped me with the door knob before putting on her own bulky gloves.
We were going to meet a few other friends to shovel snow. There had been a gigantic snowstorm that had blown out the power, which hadn't been repaired until a few minutes ago.
I smiled as we approached the meeting spot. There was a good turnout. Our cousin, Cassie, waved.
I looked around at all the bundled girls, all engaged in different conversations. "Where's Erica?" I asked. "She promised she'd be here."
"I don't know," Cassie replied, "we called her house an hour ago, but there was no reply."
"If she doesn't want to come, her loss. Let's get to work," Alexa said.
A few hours later, we were all gathered at our house sipping hot chocolate, when Erica knocked on the door. "Where were you?" I asked as I let her in.
"I've been at home! Why didn't you guys call?" she asked.
"We did, why didn't you answer?" Cassie snapped.
"You must have called when I was blow drying my hair, I didn't hear it ring," Erica explained.
Alexa stood up. "Really, Erica, why didn't you help us shovel?"
Why didn't Alexa believe Erica?

I liked this one, it was nice and easy. It makes me feel special when I can get them right away, LOL . Well keep up the good work.
I read that one in an American Girl magazine
good one...at first i thought that the cassie girl hadnt called because she called...i think it was an hour ago...and the power would have been out so there would have been no electricity to call with...unless its one that doesn't go into the wall like a cell phone...but when they didnt believe the erica girl i knew it was because of the blow dryer not being able to work either. confused now?
American Girl may have been my inspiration...

Good one....though i read it in a magazine!
I didn't read this one anywhere. I thought of it by myself. But I don't doubt there are very similar ones to it floating around out there.

I'm suprised i got it 1 second after I read the story. It was very good though.
ummmmmmmm how did they know she would come if they couldn't get hold of her in the first place?
They planned to shovel snow previously...
Nice mystery good storyline. Not all that difficult, still lotsa fun.
i liked it
i love these mystery ones. i liked how easy it was. didn't leave me with a headache. ; )
I LOVED this one! It was great. At first i was dimb-struck but then i got it right away. Keep them coming!!!
Electrifying mystery (considering the power was out)! Nicely written.
They never called her...if the power was out the phones wouldn't work either.
i think ive seen this one before... thats ok. i stil liked it
A standard telephone with a cord still works when the electrical power is out!! The "power" for the phone comes right through the telephone wires. So unless the phone wires were down too, the phone would have still worked. Of course most people have cordless phones at home now, and they DO require electricity for the base part to work!! (So, it's a good idea to have one regular corded phone to use when the power goes out..... unless, of course, you have a CELL phone!!!)
This one has been around for a while.
hey good one I thought her hair was still wet so she could not have dryed her hair again good one!!!!!!!!!!!
I got i t after th e hint!
I read that in an "American Girl" magizine a long tme ago.
My phone works just fine even when the power is out. My cordless one needs juice. Pretty easy teaser, but still fun.
Way too easy, but I always enjoy a good story! A for effort!
Erica trapped heself int his riddle. If the power was out all she had to say was that the power was out.
DOLFIN GURL IS LYING!
When the first person said she read it in american girl dolfin said that may have been her inspiration but when the next person said it she said she hadnt read it anywhere!(good teaser though)

Well where I live we have the electricity lights underground so the power doesn't go out when it snows.
And plus since the power was out the girls couldn't have called Erica because the electricity wasn't working.
preppy its not "DOLFIN GURL" its dolphingurl....
Anyway, love the teaser! It was good!
Anyway, love the teaser! It was good!
It could be one of those Battery-powered hairdryers
Fun teaser even though it was easy to figure out. Thanks for posting.
Umm actually, If Cassie called it wouldn't have worked anyways. The power was out. Unless you mean cell phones, and reception would still really suck!
Love it! Good one!
Got it right away
The snowstorm has presumably happened during Erica's "Blow Drying". Since the POWER got KNOCKED OUT DURING the Storm, How could she have been blow-drying her hair?
this was pretty obvious....
