Great teaser sweet! Enjoyed this one as it was fun!
that was a good teaser-even if i didn't get it right
Didn't get the right answer but a really good teaser anyway. Made my favs.

a great teaser, although i took my sweet time guessing the answer(yes, pun intended)

Of course! "Doe, a deer, a female deer".
A dozen does dozed, does make me wonder. How I wander!

I was trying to figure out how a herd of deer fit in with something napping!!!
Cool teaser.
I was on the same track rakaaland
This was cute! Good job!
That was good. I enjoyed it immensley. Thanks

Teaser was ok, but not one of the great ones.
Quite an easy one,
Though it was fun!
Though it was fun!
Who dozes(bulldozes) does? And wouldn't the peta freaks get upset by that?
I thought that was very good! I don't know if I would have gotten it. I say would have because, since "a group of deer" is a herd, I was stopped there. Maybe for future you could say several deer or two deer or something other than "a group of" which seems like you're referring to the technical word for a group of deer, not just multiple deer.
Also, does 3rd person means allow or capable? But, sweet, I think they are such a great group of words and it's such a great idea that I am just making a little suggestion, still great teaser. Thanks!

Oh gosh, sorry, I can't edit this. I wasn't exactly right. Deer is really the correct plural, although herd is correct, but "does" would be only female deer, so maybe group of females, something like that, not that you really want my opinion, heehee. Take care, sweetie!
The group of deer stopped me getting it too. I also thought it was after a collective noun.
IMurray, I find your comments boring, and repetitive.
You write like a petulant teeenager. No wonder no-one is listening to you.
Have you suggested any yet?
If you have, point me to them, I'd like to comment on them.

Made my faves, even if I didn't solve it!
Hey, Imurray... yes, we DO read your responses. Don't you ever get tired of being so negative all the time?
Yes, we do ... and YOU are boring US. On to the teaser - like one of the above, I don't see a very clear between the 3rd person clue and "does." Still - it is a fun one. Makes us think!
Oops - I meant "clear CONNECTION" above.
awesome! you can tell that you worked hard on it!
Imurray- in agreement with them, the world is tough enough, if you can't be less negative, don't comment on teasers, in fact, since these are soooo stupid according to you,(which they really are not!) why don't you try to submit a teaser. i'm sure that some of the editors who have read some of your comments on other jokes would be interested on what you think is a good teaser.
Very cute!
I really dont get it. even after seeing the answer. Are you saying a group of deer is a "Does".
a group of deer is a herd or a mob. This teaser does not make any sense to me. sorry, Im not being negative Im being honest.

Heard - herd- nap...uh no..nap-knap -herd...uh no..Shows how off I was. Fun though, especially when I saw the answer. Still thinking about does-capable??
Nice teaser. Keep up the good work.
Imurray, and far too many other nay sayers opinions aren't worth a second thought, this seems to be all or the best they can contribute, clearly they have nothing of value to share...It seems a bit sad to live for such 'cheap thrills'.

fun. I was also thinking "herd".
Yay I got it! Great riddle.

Hey, sweetime, great job. I was all over the map trying to figure this one out. Enjoy using my brain on ones like this, even if I didn't succeed. Was very easy once I had the answer. Constructive critics enjoyed, but one individual definitely is having a "bad hair or maybe it's heir day". Maybe that's what's wrong with him. Needs to take an happy pill.
this one was pretty good, but i was too lazy to think i tout hough
I found this one quite enjoyable, to the point of getting a headache trying to figure it out! (no, really!) All to no avail, however, 'cause I only got 2 out of 3... guess that ain't bad!
Perhaps those who have absolutely nothing but negativity to contribute should either leave, or be invited to do so?

OK my husband is an AVID hunter! I missed it! Guess that means i stay @ home!
I got this one right away. I like to play around with words. And I don't get so hung up on grammatical accuracy or exact definitions. Maybe that's why they are easy for me. And I find them enjoyable!
this was a little difficult when i tried it but it was fun
kinda boring
are you trying to kill me with difficulty crazy
does nap doe!!!
lol!! had very trying to just figure it out!!
lol!! had very trying to just figure it out!!
I loved this one! I would have to say that it was the perfect combination of fun & difficulty...not too hard but not too easy either! Thank you so much, here I am hoping you'll write some more just like this one!
wow everyone - thanks so much for the comments! i'm glad everyone (well mostly everyone) enjoyed it!
i thought "female deer" might be a little too easy, and had to resort to a dictionary for the definition of "does" (past tense of do), so sorry if you're not happy with the definition - i'm blaming the dictionary, personally

Hehe very nice, I didnt get it though. I'm slow this early....
Sweetime, excellent job, please keep up the great work!!!
hard, I didn't get it til I saw the anwer, then I kinda got it...
But I liked it and it was fun!
Good teaser!
thanks

Sweet, I hate to be one of the detractors, but I'd be lying if I said that I absolutely loved this teaser. I couldn't and would never connect the first and third answers to their respective clues. I know you said you used a dictionary's definition for "do," but my dictionary's definition is "to perform or execute." Makes more sense to me, but of course that would ruin your rhyming scheme. I hope that's somewhat constructive and nobody gets on my case for being a mean ol' doody head... or whatever.
Fulanito, I personally think that that was a positive way to "do" constructive criticism and I don't think you're a 'doody-head'! It's those, "That was lame!! WON'T ANYONE TALK TO ME!?" posts that are a waste of space. Yours was caringly done, and I'd be surprised if anyone were offended, and I've a feeling that Sweetime is waaayyy above being offended by well-worded comments like yours.
Well when I think of sleep for a bit I automatically think of nap, so that threw me off a lot. Very good.
Loved the teaser, but I too felt it should have been worded as a group of female deer. There is a distinct difference between a herd and some female does.
Very creative and unique.
Very creative and unique.
Good teaser, but I couldn't solve it... Never heard of "does" for a group of deer... But I guess that rather is a matter of a lack in my English Skills! ;)
Didn't like it.
Cute. Thanks for submitting!
Gosh, amazing how EZ it is to forget a teaser that you worked on solving before.
I like this teaser, and I like sweetime, so even if I'm clumsy with my words, I don't mean to do anything but offer a couple suggestions to possibly improve a very good teaser. Although, honestly, I don't know if I've ever seen a teaser changed after getting many suggestions on how it might be better; that's a bit of a let down if you really try to help and a number of people see some flaws. (I'm not saying this is your problem, sweetime, this applies to many teasers).
Well, I first off didn't realize that all three words were "almost" the same, or connected. I'm not sure how better to suggest that, but that's something that is basic to this teaser. I already commented on the "female deer" thing. Also on the "does" meaning "capable or permit" or whatever it was. The "doze" clue is fine, especially since "nap" is the obvious guess but "doze" is correct too. To sum up:a better definition for "does", the verb; something like:"three words that are 'almost' the same."; and "more than one of Bambi's Ma" or something like that for a more accurate clue for plural female deer. Those are my suggestions. The basic idea for the teaser is already there and its a really good one.
I know I probably sound arrogant, egotistical, and like a real... um, obnoxious person. Sorry 'bout that!
Thanks, sweetime, very much!

a group of deer is called a herd ...a female deer is a doe..you have to be more specific.. otherwise the riddlle was a-ok..

I was stumped by a group of deer. Perhaps it should of said a few female deer, as a group of deer is a herd.
Didn't get it at all. After seeing the correct answer, it makes sense, but until then I was working with three totally different words in my head. I have to agree with most of the previous comments.
I didn't arrive with the same answers as to what the teaser wanted, but..... One has to be fortunate to be able to think along the same line as the composer. Such is life Fantastic teaser! Although, the last clue is a little misleading.
SINE MY PREVIOUS COMMENTS HAVE BEEN ERASED, I DON'T EXACTLY WHAT I SAID, BUT I DIDN'T LIKE IT THEN, AND AS A RERUN, I LIKED IT EVEN LESS.THIS TIME.
I REMEMBERED THE ANSWERS FROM BEFORE, SO THIS TIME, IT WAS IRKSOME
HAVING TO CONSULT A DICTIONARY TO "MAKE" A WORD FIT THE CLUE, SHOULD TRIGGER A THOUGHT, THAT THE CLUE
SHOULD BE CHANGED.
A NOTE TO ALL:
I HAVE SUBMITTED A TEASER, BUT I GUESS IT WASN'T ACCEPTABLE TO THE "GODS."

Sometimes I skip the brain teaser and come right to the comments to have a good laugh. You people are all funny to me.
I liked the teaser...I didn't get it, but I still liked it.
Didn't get it,. Tried really hard, but I just couldn't figure it out. I guess my brain just doesn't work that way.
I thought this was a good teaser, even tho I didnt get the right answer.
IMurray, all I've seen you do is gripe, saying you've seen these teasers before, and that they werent good the first time around. Maybe you've been here too long. Maybe you could find more intellectual challenges off-line, or writing your're own off-line. If 'the gods' erased your earlier message and wont accept a submission then they might be trying to tell you something. You seem to be wasting your intellegence here. Try challenging yourself in some other way. Just my 2 cents', but it seems to reflect what others feel too.

That was cool
I thought that a short sleep was nap. I love these kinds of puzzlers. Their so much fun.
Very clever!!
A little misleading, but still fun!
Great job!!

Great job!!
I went with the herd and was trying to figure out a connection between "herd" and "nap". Guess my brain needs to go take one (a nap that is! Great job!
it was an easy one! though fun kind off.
I "herd" all of you, so it "does" not need repeating, but I, too, got stuck with "nap" and "herd". I need more practice with these Good teaser!
Sweetime, the idea for the puzzle was super. However, 'does' is PRESENT tense, not past, although it is 3rd person singular. Please tell me what it has to do with capable (an adjective) or permit. Thanks.
I will admit that I do see the awkwardness that others have pointed out for "do", but as soon as I thought of "doze" instead of "nap" I was delighted to see how "does" and "does" also fit the clues. Fit well enough, that is!! So, I enjoyed the teaser, because there was just enough information to figure it out. Good one!
Nap, slumber, sleep.... my dictionary needs to be traded in on a Thesaurus.
I'm not admitting to not paying attention in vocabulary class. That was NOT me snoring during the teacher's lessons.
Good Teaser!!

Good Teaser!!
I didn't get it because the teaser doesn't quite make sense to me. While does - the 1st does, that is - is a third-person form of a word, I don't see how it follows from capable or permit. It's a pretty big stretch to me. The deer one is a stretch as well, while the sleeping one makes perfect sense.
In the end, if you like doing teasers where you stretch your mind and create somewhat illogical associationsm, then you might like this teaser (hell, I'm not one for cryptography, for example, though that's not the same thing), but for me, I think brain teasers should be solveable using good sense without having to reach for straws.
Just explaining myself, before people complain about me being "negative" for not liking a teaser and commenting on what areas it can improve upon, as seems to have happened above and in many other comment sections.

wouldn't "does" mean a group of FEMALE deer? anyhow, nice teaser
"nap & herd" were first in line,
but I kept at it and got "does" in time.
but I kept at it and got "does" in time.
This is an old teaser that has never been corrected. A group of deer is a HERD,no matter whether it is male or female, I can't believe how many praised this teaser, when it was wrong from the getgo.
I agree with you doehead. This teaser was well intentioned and could work, but it needed to be corrected before it was rerun -- twice.
Not a bad teaser. mind you; it just needs a little work.
Not a bad teaser. mind you; it just needs a little work.
The poem was cute, although a bit confusing. I got the answer when I read "deer." The only problem I have is that it says the teaser was submitted AND corrected by the same person. That, to me, is a riddle.
Group of deer made me think herd too...but finally got it after much thought. Fun!
E-Z PEEZEE!!!
very creative
I have to agree with some that the clues were vague. I did not like this one at all and it was not because of not being able to solve. It was because of the clues. Sorry to all who disagree.
I didn't get it; got hung up, like many others on 'can', 'nap' and 'herd'.
I absolutely agree with those who dislike the first clue: the verb 'to do' does NOT mean capable or permit, so it would have been hard to break into the solution from that clue.
I also disagree with those who don't like the last clue. 'Does' refers to more than one female deer, so 'a group of deer' is perfectly valid. The fact that it omits a piece of information that would immediately lead one to the answer is not a problem, since these things are supposed to get you thinking a bit.

Herd.
It certainly does make a difference. When it says a group of deer, that takes in both male and female. It should have said a group of female deer even if it did make it easier. The only one I got was the short sleep. It was a good effort though.
This one got by me.
I too began with nap and it all fell apart from there. I would have never have connected the verb "to do" with capable or permit.Though I have no issues with does being a group of deer, I came up with herd but that did not work for the other clues either.

the first clue is certainly not correct
I managed to solve this teaser despite the vague clues, as well as feeling that the solution made no sense!
Fun, easy and entertaining teaser; I got it very quickly. The clues given were very good - you just had to find three similar words that fit them.
