Brain Teasers
You Are Incorrect
Joey told Carl that he couldn't answer incorrectly any question that Joey asked him.
Carl then said, "I bet you I can."
"First question, how old are you?"
Carl then said, "50." He was wrong, so they moved to the next question.
"What are you, a male or female?"
He answered, "Female."
Then Joey asked him, "What is your name?"
He answered, "Tim."
Then Joey looked puzzled. It seemed he had forgotten how many questions he asked Carl.
So he asked Carl, "That is three questions I asked you?"
Carl replied, "Yes."
He asked Carl one last question. Carl was wrong, so that means he answered all of the questions wrongly, which he was supposed to do, but Joey won the bet. Why?

That was a good one, but pretty easy
I disagree with the answer. Joey had asked 4 questions:
1) How old are you?
2) What are you a male or female?
3) What is your name?
4) That is three questions I asked you?
For Carl to be wrong on the 4th question, he needed to answer YES, as he did.

yeh, suppose. and it was too comlicated
I agree that it was the fourth question, but it could be argued that the wording of the question, using the word 'that', implied the prior questions, not the including the one currently being asked.
Way too hard to read. Ever heard of quotation marks?
Funny, but kinda easy. Nice work!
Good one, Great idea!
i agree, he answered yes and the right answer would be no because asking him if it was three questions was the fourth question
That was fun but hard. I am only reading these because I need more points I mean a lot more points to submit my teaser. It`s really cool.
fun, easy, ok
I thought that he would be wrong if he was asked "are you sure?" and he replied "yes." But now I'm even more confuse?
good one, fun
MarcM1098 he asked that is 3 questions i asked so that means not includiong the fourth question
this 1 was fun but tricky
Very good..
i got the answer right away
keep them coming

keep them coming
Joey said he had to answer 3 questions wrong, which he did. He asked him how old are you, waht is your name, are you male or female and did i ask 3questions. Carl got 3 out of 4 right. So Carl won the bet.
no u r wrong babe it said nothing about he had to answer 3 questinos wrong i think u need to re read the teaser
Weeelll, actually, Rob, YOU are incorrect. "That is three questions I asked you?" is a statement, not a question, even though you ended it with a question mark. So Carl was agreeing with Joey's statement, not answering a question. And what do you mean,"but Joey won ANOTHER bet?" What "other" bet are you talking about?? Very confusing!
this is the 2nd teaser of two the first 1 was "The Magnificent Jump"
ohhh i get it...
Kool!! Great teaser
carl should have won the bet, right? He answered incorrrectly all five questions.
yippie i got it! thanks and keep them coming
Great teaser.
Technically, It was three questions. Because the forth question [which can also be said as a statement depending on how it is said] is implying that he previously asked three questions. If the forth was considered, the statement would read "This is the third question, right?" but b.c it didn't then the answer [to the teaser] was correct.

It was confusing at first but after rereading it was easier.
???
Not only is it wrong in the sense that 4 questions had been asked, but the bet was that Carl couldn't wrongly answer *any* questions - not all. In fact after the very first question, Carl should have one the best.
I agree with wiz-- the question should be changed.
way to easy, i knew the answer before i got to the question
To be quite honest, this one became even more confusing after reading all the comments. I'll just say nice work on your teaser and be on my way now.
Joey told Carl that he can't answer wrongly ANY question Joey asked him.
"That is three questions I asked you?"
The matter of the fact is that was a question asked, one that Carl answered incorrectly. Carl won the bet, not Joey.

I thought it was when Joey told Carl that he couldn't answer wrongly any question.
Carl said, "I bet you I can," which is right.
But anyway, nice teaser!

Please rewrite and resubmit. Thanks
pretty good but a lil bit e z so yeah
"THAT is three questions I asked you?"
Actually, the author of this teaser is right. The above IS a question, even though it does not have a good starting (e.g. Have I asked you three questions). Anything that has a question mark at the end, and you can answer to with a yes or no, or something else, can be considered a question of sorts. So, actually, YOU Are Incorrect.

If the question was stated correctly (proper grammar, punctuation, etc.) it may have been easier to understand and answer. It was definitely confusing as it could be (and was) interpreted in so many ways. Nice Try though. )
What? Is it just me or was the wording in this one very difficult to unerstand? Good one tho
The wording was a little confusing.
Sorry, but no one can defend this one... the author is incorrect.
The bet is that Carl cant answer any question incorrectly, but on answering the first question incorrectly, he wins the bet right there. the author of this teaser is incorrect.
This teaser's sentence structure is very confusing. Unfortunately, the writer has not been on for over a year, so it seems that he can't rewrite it.
you should have spaced things out more, or something.
i got lost while reading it. the structure makes it way too difficult.

No, He was incorrect for all of them. Joey DID ask four questions. the first was if he could answer the questions wrongly. 2nd was how old, gender, then what is your name. That's 4.
And addition to my comment above, I'll write the question and answers he said.
1:It does tell Joey ASKED Carl that he couldn't answer any question wrong. I bet I can-This was correct, but not part of the bet.
2:How old are you? 50
3:Are you a male or female? Female
4:What is your name?Tim
5:That was three questions I asked you? Yes.
You should change that.

No, He asked 4 questions. His fourth question was "That was 3 questions?" Joey answered ALL the questions wrong.
In playing Twenty Questions (= Animal Vegetable or Mineral) it's common to say "How many questions is that?" meaning before this one. You could find other examples. But you could quibble.
But the interesting thing is this. The "how many" question was answered on the assumption that it was *outside the game*, a concept familiar even to young children, who have ritual words to indicate suspension of a game while something is attended to. But *there was no explicit statement that it was outside the game*, so answering it correctly can legitimately be counted!
