Brain Teasers
Birbal the Wise - IX
Situation
Situation puzzles (sometimes called lateral thinking puzzles) are ones where you need to ask lots of yes or no questions to figure out what happened in the situation. These are good puzzles for groups where one person knows the puzzle and answers the questions.Situation
Emperor Akbar once ruled over India. He was a wise and intelligent ruler, and he had in his court the Nine Gems, his nine advisors, who were each known for a particular skill. One of these Gems was Birbal, known for his wit and wisdom. The story below is one of the examples of his wit. Do you have it in you to find out the answer?
The King of a distant land had heard that Birbal was one of the wisest men in the East and so desired to meet Birbal. He sent Birbal an invitation to visit his country.
In due course, Birbal arrived in the distant kingdom. When he entered the palace he was flabbergasted to find not one but six kings seated there. All looked alike. All were dressed in kingly robes. Who was the real king?
The very next moment he got his answer. Confidently, he approached the king and bowed to him.
How did Birbal know who was the real king?

Answer
The king, puzzled and shocked by this instant discovery asked Birbal, "But how did you identify me?"Birbal explained: "The false kings were all looking at you, while you yourself looked straight ahead. Even in regal robes, the common people will always look to their king for support."
Overjoyed, the king embraced Birbal and showered him with gifts.

Another great one! Keep them coming!
I love these!
Awsome teasers. Where'd you get the idea?
Thanks yoshinode, Birbal is part of Indian history and also forms a part of childhood stories told to all children! It was definitely a big part of my childhood and a few days back, I got the idea that many of these stories fitted perfectly in Trick, Logic or Situation categories. I tried my hand at it, and it was accepted! I am glad I could share a bit of my childhood with everyone here!
Nice one brainster!!
These 'teaser' do go beyond mere teasing and I hope open more eyes to brilliant, challenging world. As always, well done. Thanks.

Yet another good one Mrs. B!!
I thought it was perhaps a supremely confident and regal expression on his face that only a true king would have.

I love all your teasers Brainster!
So why would the false kings be foolish enough to blow the real king's cover?
I'd fire them.
I'd fire them.

Ya, that would make it kind of obvious if only one was looking ahead. You should have put that in the story...why did you leave out the fact that the other kings were looking at one while one was looking ahead? If Birbal saw it, shouldn't we have been included in that information? Or is this yet another lame "teaser" with a thousand different possible answers? Like "one was a man and the others were women" .. how is that answer incorrect? You would have left that information out too, right?
if you put some hint, it would definitely be better. however great job!
thanks brainster, your birbal the wise teasers are pure genius
@brainster- by sharing ur childhood, ur making me misss mine so much!! but i really do think these were better in hindi, the way my grandmother told me! =D
Zembobo, this is a TRUE story. AND, brain TEASERS are meant to make u think. Like, if we just told u that, who would have thought?
How can they be look-alike? Were there FACE MASKS at that time?
