I like all the clues but the first one. I am not sure how a waterfall is "Bright as diamonds?" I am not saying that it can't be, if lit with spotlights, but I have seen many waterfalls that are rather dull.
Maybe the first line could be "Heavy as rain." This would go well with the thunder line.
I for some reason though lightning, which seems really dumb now, since lightning doesn't make noise, and it said the word thunder in the riddle...but...it made sense at the time okay?
Yeah, the "bright as diamonds" part doesn't make sense. Change that line, though, and it's an excellent riddle
But, see, it IS bright as diamonds
In the sun a waterfall looks bright and sparkly. It was poetic. I really liked it even though I didn't get it!
Diamonds are only as bright as the external light source lighting them, and can appear dull if dirty. The same could probably be said for waterfalls.
Wow... a lot of people must have taken this from you... if you do a google search of it, there's MANY sites with this same riddle. I'm sorry that people stole this from you.
I immediately thought of water droplets when I read the first line
Bright as diamonds? At night?
Lightning makes a noise - it is called thunder!!!
That's what I thought as well

Too many possibilities. I never would have come up with the answer GrilledCheese came up with. Waterfall would have never crossed my mind. Sorry, too vague, but thanks for posting.
I thought fireworks. Wouldn't that fit?
I also thought of fireworks. I think it fits better than the waterfall answer. I was surprised to find that only one other person had thought that was the answer too.
I thought of a geyser like "Old Faithful," it is always moving...underground until it "blows."
I think the diamonds part is fine. Some people are too picky.
I also thought of thunder is the noise that lightning makes...
So, I didn't get it, either; but I still liked the riddle. Thanks, again.

I thought lightning, too. It is definitely loud as thunder! And it is never still (never strikes the same place twice).
BTW, I like the fireworks answer, too. I didn't think of it, but it fits. I've always thought of lightning as God's fireworks.
I agree with Bradon182001. The clues are too few and too broad. Not a good riddle.
I thought it was perfect! Great riddle. Of course, I'm probably saying that because I figured it out, lol. I liked the "bright as diamonds" part, because I figured that it had to be clear and had to reflect the sun. Water is the only thing I could think of that would do that. The other two clues just fell into place perfectly after that because the loudest water sound is a waterfall and it is always moving. Excellent job!
Great quiz. Got stuck on lightening even though I know lightening technically doesn't make noise.
Waterfall was the first thing to come to my mind but I could see some of the other answers people came up with too. Good job!
This could be adjusted only slightly to read:
"Smooth as satin
Harmonic waves
Glisten like diamonds
Thundering turbulence
A natural wonder,
Never still.
What am I?"
(Just ask a poet with a passion for waterfalls.)

This was a bit too vague for my taste, but was beautifully written.
I love the fact that it sparked so many opinions. The world is a better place when we get our minds thinking outside the box(riddle). Awesome!
I didn't get it, but I liked it. If you've ever seen Niagra Falls, it fits perfectly. I too thought of lightning, but it doesn't make noise. Thunder comes AFTER lightning and it makes noise. Good teaser.
a waterfall....clever....i agree that it was vague, but still a lovely little teaser, grilled cheese.
i didn't get. i feel stupid
I was thinking plasma bubble.
@ smartymarty - Thunder is the noise that lightning makes. The only reason you typically hear it after is because light travels much faster than sound. If you were standing very close to the lightning bolt - you would hear it at the same time.
Nice riddle, got it in spite of the first line
I saw this teaser months ago and got the same answer then that I got now...(a wrong answer)...I feel incredibly stupid right now...
I thought The Sun.
The sun is a constant explosion, so it's bright, loud, and moving constantly. And it truly is a thing of beauty.

I'm not so sure a waterfall is bright
There are lots of possibilities here, but I actually think that lightning is a better answer than waterfall. Lightning is as exactly as loud as thunder, because thunder is the sound that lightning makes.
I guessed Fireworks.
I guessed the sun. Now I realize how ridiculous that is.
But I really, really LOVE poetic riddles! going in my favorites!

I was torn between: lightning & fireworks; fireworks is probably more appropriate?
