The Case Of The Missing Statue
Mystery
Mystery teasers are little stories where you need to figure out what happened based on the given clues.Mystery
Leah Fielding, one of the city's best detectives, was called to investigate the death of Natalie Williamson, one of the city's richest women. A search of Natalie's house located her body, as well as the murderer in another room. The murderer had left a note saying that he killed Natalie because he was jealous of her magnificent 5 ton statue, and could not cope with artwork more superior to his.
There was one problem. Where was this enormous statue?
Believing that the statue could hold more information regarding the case, Leah started to rummage through the house for it.
After searching the entire house with no luck, Leah decided to call another officer to assist with a further investigation.
When the officer arrived, Fielding walked across the gravel driveway, which made a nice crunching sound.
"It's odd for such a huge statue to just vanish like that!" she exclaimed.
"I agree. And you're the best detective in the city. If you can't do it, then no one can!" replied the officer.
The two officers proceeded to search every last inch of the house, but to no avail.
Fielding decided to rest the case and try asking some of Natalie's friends. But just as she left, she realised something.
"I know where the statue is!" she exclaimed.

Nice job. Looking forward to more from you.
On this one (and next, also) ... don't be so obvious - to the reader - on your 'clew' (look it up).
Be more 'indirect' for example, about the revelation of the gravel driveway. It was a snap as soon as I read it.
But .... be careful. The Language Judges (otherwise posing as 'editors') are quite touchy about such and they have difficulties with subtleties. So this becomes, too often, a 'contest' of tricking the Language Judges more than the Braingle membership.

It kind of makes sense on another level since rich people probably have pavement
Nice try, but too obvious. I'm pretty bad at riddles, but I knew as soon as I read the line about gravel.
Easy because of the detail that was put into the gravel part.
