Welcome everyone! IF you want to join and you are not on my friends list, IM me and you can join. The third installment of the Naval Anarchy WTB has a piratey theme. After a Spanish Presido was razed to the ground, the Spanish launched a ferocious assault. Westbound were the fresh "juggernauts" harnessing enough cannons to make the devil cry, while Conquistadors on their swift dagger boats sank the Mexican Brotherhood of pirates. 15 Fleets banded together to form the Forsaken Brotherhood, for their own protection, but little did they know that 2 fleets were just Spanish troops. Will the pirates survive, or will the New World belong to its discoverers?

Hi!
I didn't realize 4wheels' rounds would last 4 days...glad she had an inactive boss as I was the last player to sign up.
Glad to be here on the salty 1-day round seas!

I wonder if Stacy's Mom is Jesse's girl and her number is 867-5309?
I think she is and I've heard her mother is the Little Old Lady from Pasadena who used to be Bobby's Girl. I tried giving her a call at Beechwood 4-5789 but all I heard was the Sound of Silence.

There are new players in that game that started but isn't going anywhere. More active people we could use in our games, and I'm afraid the inactivity of that single game will run them off can anyone delete games? Or do they time out on their own? Or will they forever be stuck in that game?
if the boss does not show up, he will be fired and he game will go back into signups (at which time they can escape) if tey stick around for the game to start again, the new boss can either let it time out or send in the memo and when the mod does not approve it after a set time (depending on the round lengths) the game will be considered abandoned and will auto-end.
That could take a week or more (again depending on the length of the rounds). If I recall, they were long.

Actually, that game already went through an inactive boss/back into signup scenario. That's when I left - and dawn, too. so I think this is the last chance.
Some of those players won't join a private game, however, so it doesn't really help us.

They won't join a private game, but they will join a game where the mod was previously inactive and then inactive again? Some people have odd priorities.

We probably all want to mod public games to let news join, but 95% of the time random inactive will sign up and ruin the game.

If you look at their games played, other than FatHead and LillyPad, they are all new players and have never played before so don't know any better.
After a game or two like the one they are stuck in, they are soured on it and won't join another thinking it will just be the same thing again.
I am surprised that FH and LP would stick around though.

Yeah, it's a big issue. Another thing is Ihmisen. Her games are always trolls...but they're open, so new players join those. It's a big problem.

Maybe we should message those that were showing an interest in the game starting ... to let them know those of us who are active and mods they should join into ... maybe invite them to the guild? There were several who wanted the game to start and were posting. If they haven't given up already, they'll see the message and turn to the active player list. Nurture instead of the already started alienation? If they start being inactive, they can be removed from FL's just as easily as they are added .... just a thought.
All I know is I didn't want to join a private game until I got to know people on the site. I'm not saying make every game public, but maybe do a public game once in a while - get a mix of active and new players.
Anyway, even the active players aren't joining this one in droves. We just don't have enough people interested in WTB... werewolf seems the more popular venue right now.

I sent a message to most of them, telling them we'd love to have them join and the private games are to keep out people that go inactive just like the game they recently experienced. I told them everyone in this game is active, and if they plan on remaining active and playing, to feel free to message and request an add. Hope no one gets mad I did that when those people add them, but I wanted to do SOMETHING. And to make them feel welcome and not uncomfortable adding people. I was new too and had to join a non-private game because I didn't know if the people I added would even accept a FR. I tried to make them feel more comfortable doing so. Yea we can run non private ones, but for those that are private, these guys may still want to play. So if you get some adds, don't just ignore them please. Give them a chance.
Yeah but inactives always wreck the public games. See 4 wheels' game. Inactive boss and a 0 star rating. That ruins mod ratings and makes it seem the mod''s games are rubbish.
I know there is a double quotation mark instead of apostrophe but my autocorrect does it and I can't get rid of it.

Take Spud for instance, she keeps starting games and then beseeching people to give her a chance that her poor rating is NOT a reflection on her abilities. People buy into her malarkey and join. I have never seen one of her games get off the ground, everyone of them has been abandoned.
There was another younger mod named Kitty or Kittycat19 or something similar - same situation. But her rounds were always long so players would get stuck for weeks or a month or more.

Well I don't know about Spud Habs, but 95% of the public games will get abandoned by inactive bosses, then the random players give it a 0 star rating and drag down the mod's overall rating.
Here's a link to my first game. It got abandoned by an inactive boss and got a really bad rating. Makes me look like a really bad mod for hosting public games.

Hopefully, he will be back when the final person joins and be able to send the memo and start the game.
Unfortunately, Who's the Boss is heavily reliant on not only active participants (especially the boss), but an active moderator as well.
In WWG, once the game is created, the mod could disappear from the site and we could still see it through to the end. We just wouldn't get IDs.
I think that is part of the reason so few people play anymore. That and the fact that there is no real strategy to the game.
All that is done is that, instead of trying to find out who the boss is thought logic and thought, players are cleared of not being the boss until it gets down to only a few possibilities.
I would enjoy the game more if it were more focused on using the memos and psych questions to actually ferret out the boss.

WTB used to be my favorite game. There was an element of thought involved, and in the early games I played there wasn't any talk of clearing until the very end of the game.
I remember even being a bit afraid of Werewolf at first - I didn't like the idea of getting shot or eaten. Now I really enjoy it, though I'd like to be a wolf again soon.

I've always preferred WWG to WTB. I don't understand WTB as much as I do WWG.
If Hydra's not back in a few more days, we have the option of starting another game. Just one of us will have to mod it. I wouldn't mind, if it means getting a game started, but I'd like to give Hydra a few more days. RL comes first, and I don't want to assume he's gone for no good reason. Thoughts?

I don't see a problem with clearing players, it's a sensible strategy that the employees have. A good boss should be able to deal with it and thus make the game more interesting. If a game ends too quickly then it's not because the game is easy to win, but that the boss did not push hard enough. Also, if you want psych questions to be more prominent than analyse them more! They can be full of red herrings, but are relevant at least once in the game when the boss says something that clears others.
I wish there were ways to customize games more, though. I keep thinking that I'd like to do a game with a map where locations affect the game, but of course a mod can only fire so many people and you can't really customize enough. Zombie RPG WTB never.
Waiting a bit more wouldn't hurt most of us. We've had to wait for Cub's game and for this game a long time so it's not like we don't know patience. However if anyone wants to make a small ten player public game to pass the time then I'm sure Hydra could wait as well.
Why didn't the Libertarian cross the road?

@Absy: I usually prefer WTB because it involves more deduction. In quite a lot of WWGs there's nothing to go on (unless there are clues) because everyone's stating a random vote and you can't really find a logical reason to vote for someone. WTB, however, has the boss write a memo and answer a psych.
