The Power of Money
What is wrong with the following calculations?
£1 = 100 pence so:
100p = 10p * 10p so:
£1 = 10p * 10p so:
£1 = £1/10 * £1/10 so:
£1 = £1/100 so:
£1 = 1p
£1 = 100 pence so:
100p = 10p * 10p so:
£1 = 10p * 10p so:
£1 = £1/10 * £1/10 so:
£1 = £1/100 so:
£1 = 1p
Answer
The mistake is in saying 100p = 10p * 10p. 10p times 10p would be 100 p^2, so all of the following assumptions are also wrong.The second line should read: 100p = 10 * 10p.
Correctly written, the calculations would read:
£1 = 100 pence so:
100p = 10 * 10p so:
£1 = 10 * 10p so:
£1 = 10 * £1/10 so:
£1 = £1
