I just guessed on the hunt and peck, never heard that before, but I like these kind of teasers. FUN!
Terrific. I only got a few then had to cheat and look at the answers.
Nice job!
@ germangemini, it refers to a method of typing where you literally have to 'hunt' for where the letters are and then 'peck' with only one or two fingers. Glad you guys liked it though.
I got them all except for the first. After checking the answer, I was glad I didn't spend so much time, as I never heard of that one.
Good one.
Good one.
ya, i didnt really understand the concept of these...but thats just me
i read and like all three teasers of these, i just have never heard of some expressions used on 2 and 3
That's okay. It happens. There are phrases on other teasers that I did not know either. It evens out.
Thought it was great. Had a bit of a time with 5 but that is what makes they so fun to do. Have not heard "rack & ruin" in a while. The other two like this were also good. Keep em comming.
i got all except the first but all three are still fun......keep up the good work!
Nice no III ! You made a fine trio fishmed ! now... um... should we expect more
Jul 28, 2005
Did not get the first one but somehow managed to figure the rest out! Keep em' comin'!!
i thought the 1st one was "fire and ruin"! what is rack and ruin? great teaser

Wow! I actually got all the answers right in one of fish's teasers!
Another good one fish!
Another good one fish!
Would someone plaes explain # 1 to me? I got the rest, I have never heard this one before...
Got all but the first one. Maybe my grandpa would have used that phrase - before they invented the supermarket. Sounds like what you hunted went bad on the rack.
laura0489...it just means if something or someone goes to rack and ruin, they are utterly destroyed or wrecked.
Got it this time, but i didn't figure it out. Good job!
IM LOVIN THESE!
awesome job!!!!!! it was a little confusing but very clever!!!
i thought it was stupid i like different type of teasers
I saw the words rack and ruin but I didn't put them together because I've never heard of rack & ruin. The rest were easy.
Good job, again fish. Missed the first one!
Very easy one but I've always loved word puzzles. Fish, is there a lV coming?
it was okAY......just a little boring.....nothing that needed real brain work
good one
Great.--Hard for me to admit; but I have never heard of rack and ruin.I am old and have heard almost all sayings but this one not. Anyway enjoyed it. Thanks!
This was fun. I got 4 out of 5. I just didn't get the first one. I had fun with it!
That first one gave me a little trouble, too. I wrote down 3 possibilites for it, and it ended being the first one I wrote down, even though, like everyone else, I didn't know what it meant. But, hey, I'm 3 for 3 on the "Hidden Time & Again" series! WHO DA MAN?!?! Way to go, Fishmed!
Hidden in each there "is" a pair.
I was surprised to catch that in one of your teasers.
It was a good one though.

It was a good one though.
At least I wasn't the only one to miss the first one.
Nicely done.
Nicely done.
I only got hunt an peck
I'M WITH SCORPIO, THESE ARE NOT MY CUP OF TEA (HA HA COMING FROM CHINA) AND TOO TOO EASY. GIVE ME SOMETHING I CAN SINK MY TEETH INTO BESIDES EVERBODY'S HIDE.
Hey, lmurray, do all teasers have to be something you can "sink your teeth into"? I like a challenge, too, but give credit where it's due, please - this one was fun, if easy. Keep up the good work, Mr. Fish!
Besides, I see you have yet to go out on a limb & submit a teaser. Ok, then?
Good on you Gebbie Rose, but Imurray just does a Georgie Porgie and runs away.
Teasers like these are most useful for learning expressions and word play, great for teaching and skill building. Thank Fishmed.

Okay,
1. I got RACK(didn't get RUIN).
2. Got LOCK, KEY.
3.Got HUNT, PECK.
4Got LIFE (not LIMB).
5. Got ART, SCIENCE.
Thanx fishmed, that was a nice wake me up.

i think i'm getting the hang of these now. a very good teaser. i got them all right boy was i surprised. first time ever. keep up the good work.
These are fun! Thanks!
I'm with the "struggled with number one" club... So I cheated and came up with two possibles before looking at the answer! I got "rack & ruin" and "fire & ruin"... Eliminated "crack & con" as a possible because this is a family oriented site! I'm calling it a win (lol)... Helps keep my streak alive. Also learned a new phrase that's apparently been around for about a zillion years! Geat fun. Keep 'em coming!
The singular form for no. 5 has a better alliterative sound, and dispenses with the sibilation of the plural
This sort of teaser is easy for me (unlike rebus and science & others). And who doesn't feel brilliant doing something easily? Great fun, thanks Fish.
I like this kind of teaser. Didn't get #1, but the rest were easy after some thought. Fun teaser.
A little too easy, today. But they are still enjoyable. Keep it up, Fish. As long as others can enjoy these type of puzzles, keep them coming.
I once visited Tara, but 'rack & ruin' never occurred to me. I got the rest, though.
I didn't get "rack and ruin", but got the rest. I enjoyed these, Fishmed. Good job!
Rack & Ruin is in the song Thoroughly Modern Millie from the musical of the same name. That's where I heard it first, a LOOOONG time ago.
Enjoyed it 1st one had to look waiting for another.loved it.thanks
Link to song lyrics. The show was in 1967.
I too have fallen victim to #1. And I'm glad I didn't keep looking, as I've also never heard of "rack & ruin".
I also didn't get #5, oops? I wrote down "Heart & Science?" on my note paper... I did do a google search on the term, and it did come up about 13,500 times, so I stopped trying to look harder. Like I said, "oops."

What's rack and ruin? Still like this teasers!
"Rack" is a variant spelling of "wrack" which first appeared in Old English in the 14th century and is derived ultimately from a word meaning "something washed up by the sea." It came to refer to any sort of "wreck," then more broadly to any kind of ruin or destruction. The alternate spelling "rack" is first attested in 1599. So "rack and ruin" means "destruction and ruin."
yay... anothr 1... good job!
It was fun. I got all of them except the Rack and Ruin.
Easy for those who had heard the expressions earlier, but as the comments of many show, some of our friends have now learnt a few new set of words. Good job done by the composer. Keep it up.
A good one thanks.
Nice job and fun too.
I really like these! They're easy but you still have to think, and they're fun!
Got them all except number three, I haven't ever heard the term hunt and peck so I guessed hunt and led. I like these teasers - probably because I can do them - unlike most of the other teasers
Nice!
I don't get it!
I love this kind of teaser. However, wrack as used in "wrack & ruin" really does need that "w".
Love, love, love these...probably cuz they're easy for me. It's a boost to the ego to find at least ONE type of teaser I can regularly solve. So, for my ego, keep 'em comin'.
These teasers are so much fun! It's true about wrack & ruin, but the idea was a good one. If one is familiar with American figures of speech, they are easy. Let's have more!
Fishmed, neat job, didn't do too badly. Of course I didn't get them all, but practice helps. More please?
Another good one! Like many beofre me, I got all but #1 (I haven't heard the phrase before either!).
On a side note: Just because you can't solve the teaser or it's not your favorite style , doesn't give you the right to call it "stupid" or make other negative remarks about it. If you don't like it, write your own!

I didn't get the first one. I've never heard of that phrase before. I love these though, and I thought this one was GRRRREAT!!!
I have never heard of rack and ruin.
I enjoy these teasers. Thanks.
I enjoy these teasers. Thanks.
i got them all!
also, very exciting, i discovered that in the example,"thighbone and swallowtail", another pair: "one and all"!
very good teasers thanks!

very good teasers thanks!
By the way, just to be Mr. Smarty-pants for the day, I'm surprised that so many of you haven't heard of rack and ruin. I mean, (here he goes!), doesn't anyone READ books anymore? And, how about fairy tales? Doesn't anyone read fairytales anymore? Even in old CARTOONS, you will find that phrase!
OK, enough already, Mr. Smanty-parts!
OK, enough already, Mr. Smanty-parts!
not tooo bad...never heard of some of them
This series of teasers rank up there with Birbal as being some of the best on this site.
fun once I got the hang of it!
I love these sooo much!
Never heard of Rack & Ruin b4, but got all except that and Hunt & Peck. Keep 'em coming! (Pretty please?)

I find hard to be a champion in solving teasers, so when I find one I succeed I jump with joy!! thnks
5/5, yay! I'm surprised so many never heard of "rack & ruin" (same destination as "hell in a handbasket") and "hunt & peck". Maybe everyone knows how to type these days, so no one hunts and pecks anymore.
couldn't get the first one, I do know about rack and ruin I was sure the second word was 'string' got all the others. Great teaser!
Maybe I've seen to many of these, they fell into place pretty easy.
Good one! 5/5!
That was fun! Not too familiar with "Rack & Ruin", so I had to give up on the first one... But I got the rest.
A good site with a good description of the phrase "rack and ruin"

Never heard of rack and ruin so I missed that one. The rest were EZ PZ but fun!!
I should have been able to get them all, but, I gave up on #1. I got the rest of them, though.
Very good! Thanks!
Very good! Thanks!
Great teaser fishmed!
Fitting that I take your teaser for my 100,000th point.
Fitting that I take your teaser for my 100,000th point.
I love being the first in 2012. Nice teaser! Igot 4 and one half of the first one. These are easy, but lots of fun!
I love these! Thanks for posting!
Had to resort to the internet for the first one, but got am all!
easy, but still fun to do
Fun and entertaining teaser. Found this one more challenging than past ones but I still got them all.
These were great fish, as the two that preceded them. Most people seem to really like them. I hope you plan on continuing the series. Will there be a follow-up?
Totally agree with mrbill, these were more challenging that the others. Unlike mrbill , I did not get them all. The first eluded me. These are tremendous puzzles. So simple, yet so good. Well done fishmed. Thanks!
I liked it but it was easy (not being mean or dis likeing it) i got all but i also found other ones as well ???????????? ???????? ???? ???????????????? ???????????????????????????????? ???????? ???????????????????????????????????????? ???????????????????????? ???????????? ???????????? ???????????? ???????????????? ☕☕ ☕☕☕☕ ☕☕☕☕ ☕☕☕☕*me drinking and eating bc why not i got sick of pizza UwU*
