The Toy Store
Logic-Grid
Logic Grid puzzles come with a handy interactive grid that will help you solve the puzzle based on the given clues.Logic-Grid
Abby, Bob, Cindy and Don went to the toy store to get a new toy. They each bought a different toy. They paid a different price for their items. Work out who bought what toy for what price.
Kids: Abby, Bob, Cindy, Don
Toys: Ball, Skipping rope, Paper doll, Book
Prices: $1, $1.50, $2, $2.50
1) A boy bought the ball.
2) Cindy paid with a bill and got less than $3 back.
3) The $1 item was made from paper.
4) The boys only brought $1.75 each.
5) The skipping rope was exactly $1 more than the ball.
6) The book was not $2.
7) Someone with an "n" in their name bought the ball.

Hint
If (not that) Abby bought something for $1, and Abby bought the rope, then we know the $1 item is the rope. (Note: These facts may or may not be true.)Answer
Abby bought the $2 paper doll.Bob bought the $1 book.
Cindy bought the $2.50 skipping rope.
Don bought the $1.50 ball.

Took me a while but got it right!!! Actually I had a mistake but that doesn't count. It was carelessness
That was kinda ez. I liked it n-e-way!
Ignore the above comment horse luver. The clues were fine. The only one who got no clues was Abby. For the person who wrote the last comment that is called THE PROCESS OF ELIMINATION! It wasn't difficult, but the teasers you can just think about for a few minutes are just as good.
This is the 1st Logic Problem I tried on this site. I started with this easy one to break myself in! I found it well-written and easy, but requiring logic. The grid is an awesome tool!
Forget about eina. I thought that it was a very good teaser. It isn't your fault that eina sucks.
That was a great teaser!! I almost got it all right!! The grid was very helpful!! Just ignore what eina said!!!
the clues were awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! cuz u didn't really say
so and so bout this for $#
it was p[retty easy, but someone could have been easily tricked so it was a good combination

Actually Eina had a point. Books aren't "made out of paper," the pages are. What about the binding? The paper doll is the only one of those actually made out of paper.
And you didn't say the boys couldn't have shared a quarter... if they had, Cindy could've paid with a $2 bill, and got the $1 book.

I found it VERY easy to solve. You did have to sort of think about the book/paper doll thing, though.
Nice Job, I liked this one... didn't take me too long to figure it out but the clues were well written and I had to think about it for a few minutes to get it right. Way to go, hope to see more from you in the future.
Lots of fun!! Great puzzle and the clues were just great. Don\'t change any of them. More puzzles like this please.
Really enjoyed the puzzle only problem was, being from UK and not knowing what a bill exactly was kind of stumped me!! Managd in the end though
Good puzzle, and fun, too!
Thank you.
Thank you.
The clues allow a second solution, where the boys buy the same items at the same prices, but where Cindy buys the $2 doll (using a $2 and getting nothing back, which is certainly less than $3). If the clue about Cindy's change were altered to state that she received some change from her bill, the value of which was less than $3, that would have eliminiated this other possibility.

Luv'd your puzzle. And I actually thought that you did an awsome job with the writing/clues. Keep them coming!
I only got half right....but I have only started doing this. I did have fun.
The puzzle was ok. I had a problem with the paper doll and book and who actually purchased them. I guess it's a sexist thing. LOL.
All in all, it was fun.

Brainiac: the problem states that each person bought a different toy. I would argue that books are made of paper as paper is the major component of books. I think the clues were fun. Overall it was pretty easy to sovle.
I thought it was alright too. I got a little stuck on Abby, she didn't really have a lot of clues about her, but process of elimination just made her the last one solved. Good job!
As mentioned earlier clue #2 really gave no important information. She could've paid with a bill and received less than 3 dollars back with any of those values:
1$ : Paid with a 1$ bill. No change < 3$
1.50$ : Paid with a 2$bill. 50c < 3$
2.00$ : Paid with a 2$ bill. No change < 3$
2.50$ : Paid with a 5$bill. 2$ < 3$
I 'd guess what was meant was that she paid with a bill, RECEIVED CHANGE, and that the change was less than 3$.
Still, pretty fun.

In my country (New Zealand) the bills start at $5 (we have coins for $1 and $2) so that wasn't a problem for me.. though I must be the only wierdo on the planet who thought that "The boys only brought $1.75 each" meant that they shared their money and their total spending was $3.50, rather than neither could spend more than $1.75. *slaps forehead* Fun teaser, thanks ^_^
I liked this teaser. good job.
very good

I have no idea if this is good or not. I don't like this type of problem, it's a lot of work for small rewards.
It is possible to figure it out, but not easy. I much enjoyed figuring this out, but it didn't make too much sense, personally.
fuzzie, the reward is in the knowing that you were smart enough to figure it out! anyway, to whoever wrote this teaser (i forgot to look at your name) good job! a little easy...
ok i looked... good one, horse lover!
oops, i meant "horse LUVER"

Very easy but very fun! We had to do one of those every week in sixth grade, so I am very good at them, but they are still fun! Good job Horse Luver!
i personally love those kinds of teasers ....there so much fun! great job
good teaser!! i got one thing wrong , but it was fun!
After you figure out that Don bought the ball, and you know that the boys could only buy the $1 and $1.50 items, because they only had $1.75, you would hope that Bob, the other boy, wouldn't buy a doll If he would, we might want to look into his sexuality. I got it first go. Good teaser.
Creative!
Ignore all the comments above. I couldn't figure it out. But my elevator doesn't go to the top floor, if you get my drift, haha.
I mixed up two of them, I guess I misinterpreted a clue or something.
I didn't quite get it... It looked annoyingly easy, but then it was hard too. !
Good Job! It was kinda tricky but fun
Ha ha - this reminded me of those old worksheets they used to give us in elementary school to help us solve word problems. "If Susan bought a book for $2,50 and the book went on sale next week for $1.00 off, how much money would Susan have paid if she had bought the book on sale?" My answer would have been "A dollar less." Ahh, I love logic. Thank you for making this teaser to satiate my insatiable appetite even if it is futile.
I got this one wrong because I saw the clue "the $1 item was made of paper" and immediately thought it was the paper doll where it was actually a book. Great teaser though.

Hi
I had to consult Wikipedia to find out what bills are circulated in the US, but other than that it was pretty straightforward. I found the clue which said the boys only had $1.75 each, the most fundamental, the boys couldn't have bought items costing $2 or $2.50, so Cindy couldn't have paid with a $2 bill, she had to have bought one of the higher priced items.
To the creator of this puzzle, does it give you pleasure to still find your work attracting puzzlers after all these years?
Well done!

I enjoyed the puzzle and had no problem with it. The comments did, however, make me realize that people outside the US might have problems with our monetary system, the same as I would have problems with a puzzle using non-US currency. I will keep this in mind as I am working on a logic problem to submit.
Easy for a logic grid, but I still enjoyed it. This would be a good introductory puzzle for someone who's never done a logic grid before.
