Brain Teasers
Dazzling Dorm Heights
Brittany, Cody, Erin, Marcus, and Roger visited their sisters and brothers at the high-rise dormitory on the State University campus. The kids had fun running up and down the stairs and playing in the elevators. The top 9 floors of the dorm are for male students, and floors 2 through 8 are for female students. (The first floor is the lobby and the cafeteria.)
Cody's brother lives on the top floor.
Marcus, Roger, and Cody took the elevator to visit Cody's brother's room. Then they ran down 5 flights of stairs. They realized they'd overshot their destination, so they took an elevator up 1 floor to get to Roger's brother's room.
From Roger's brother's room the three boys went down 6 flights of stairs to visit Marcus's sister. From her room they took the elevator up 4 floors, where they met Brittany and her brother getting on at his floor.
Erin and her sister walked up 2 flights from the lobby to get to Erin's sister's room.
On what floor does each of the college students live?

well done. these kind of teasers are fun. keep it up.
There is not enough info here. It is possible that there is a floor between the girls and boys floors that are not used to house students. It is also possible, as is the custom in many highrise buildings, not to have a 13th floor (skipping from 12 to 14).
Therefore, other possible solutions are:
1) Erin's sister is on 3, but Marc's sis is on 8, 9, being an non-residential floor. Therefore, Cody's bro is on 18, Roger's bro on 14, and Brit's bro on 12.
2) With the non-res floor possibility and the omission of 13, Cody's bro is on 19, Rog's bro on 15, Brit's on 12.
3) Without the non-res floor, but with the ommission or 13, Marc's sis is on 7,
Brit's bro on 11, but Rog's bro is on 14, and Cody's bro on 18.
Changing the instructions to make in clear that the boys were on the top 9 floors which were 9-17 would give you only the solution you seek.

Easy but fun. Good job
Though it was easy, I thought it was pretty fun. *shrugs*

I am sorry that my comment was seen as negative, harsh, or critical. It was not my intent.
BUT, this was posted in the LOGIC section. The idea of logic is that those who "think differently" give up their differences to follow the rules of logic. It is a standardization of the thought process.
All I did was point out that logic, strictly applied in this case, could give more than one result unless the question were rephrased.
I am a little surprised at these reactions.

THE ANSWER IS WRITTEN!! just read it
A bit too easy... wasn't really much of anything to "solve" but I sure appreciate the effort.
Maybe some of the people could have lived "on a floor that was twice as high as ___" or "the pool was 8 floor up from the cafeteria and so and so lived just 2 floors away from pool", etc. ?? I like a bit of a challenge in the teasers.

I liked this one. It was easy, but those are kind of nice sometimes as well. As to the 13th floor comment, there will always be a 13th floor (on buildings with more than 12 floors) whether it is formally called that or not. I didn't read this one as asking for a floor's name, but for which floor (the nth).
