Seeing the Chimera was a sign of some impending natural disasters like shipwrecks or storms

Harder than your other one...still very fun and informative!
Thanks winner! I am glad you liked it!
The chimera is my favorite mythical creature!! Great teaser.
In the USA, there's always a double-el in "instill". In fact I was sure you had screwed up the puzzle, but I looked it up and "instil" is used in other arts of the Anglohone world.
cool that was really fun me and my bro worked it out together i accidentally took a 'l' in 'instil' but i still worked it out thanks for that brainster
Thanx brainster.
It was fun. I kept thinking CHIMAERA that's how its spelled in Greek Mythology (hope I spelled mythology correct). Yes it can be spelled CHIMAER as well.
I enjoy Word Jumbles. Anywho I did enjoy.

I'm not sure what a CHIMERA looks like, but I sure I ate one over here. Chinese cook any things with legs except tables. Good One Brainster, these are fun and challenging.
Good one. I like the ones that aren't impossible.
I don't really enjoy doing this kind, but It was still a great teaser!
This one goes into my category of:
"Worked hard on it, had fun doing it, didn't get it, learned something from it... had fun doing it!" Great teaser!

I know absolutely nothing about Greek mythological creatures so I couldn't even begin to try to figure this one out. I'll take everyone else's word that this was a good teaser.
Totally Awesome teaser! The title gave it to me. But, the anagrams were great and not super easy. Way to go!
Worked at this one. Had a problem with instil...but got the answer and instil had to fit!!(though I believed it mis-spelled. Good one.
Got everything quickly but the last word...
Made tinsil.
Duh!
Luv that creature!

interesting... pretty hard. i got it anyway but i had to cheat a little . very informative though!
Wow. That one took me a long time, and a lot of scribbles on a piece of paper...
...eventually, I remembered what I learned from the first Jumble, and I actually read the title....
.......then I mucked around with my letters some more and thought that CHIMETA looks awfully close to CHIMERA, which must be the right answer, and thus my answer to #1, TAXER, must be wrong. So... I pondered RAXET, EXART, ETARX, trying to get something with the R and E in the right place, and if only I had tried one EXTRA shuffling of the letters....!!!!
I'll say I was close, but you had me beat. I had a lot of fun, especially when I was working on clue #2... BUMUGH? HUGBUM? BUMHUG? HUMBUG!!!

I`m with Badger on this one,
didn1t get it but had fun trying thanks Brainster

The anagrams were pretty easy to solve but despite knowing chimera, couldnt piece that word together. Clumsy on my part! However, this is a fine teaser. Thanks for educating us about mythical creatures!
Unfortunately I'm not awake yet today and thought that the scrambled words were also mythological creatures!
Obviously I didn't get it. Great teaser though!

Good one, and harder than other one w/ smaller words. Love mythology, so chimera came to mind quickly.
I thought the anagrams were so hard I got out scrabble tiles to move around.Didn't help. I gave up too soon on humbug but the others truly stumped me. After checking the first part answers I got Chimera instantly. I like that mythological creature, too. Great teaser. Thanks a lot!
I don't think this one was well thought out because of the first and last words. The first can be unscrambled in 3 different ways and the last does not use the preferred form.
I, too, am joining the Badger club ... and I was even familiar with "chimera." We used to have a local theatre called the Chimera Theatre, and their logo included a chimera. Oh well, thanks for the BRAIN EXERCISE, Brainster!!!
lots of fun, but I admit that I had never heard of chimera before, so I had an awful time trying to unscramble it.
Nice!
got all the words unjumbled but never heard of a chimera so didn't get it. mythology is not a strong point w/ me. had fun, tho.
For some reason this was difficult for me! *still banging my head against the desk*
Not only was I thrown by INSTILL (which I was sure was the only possibility for that word), but I was sure the first was RETAX. Ya know, like tax someone a second time and they're been retaxed. ?? Isn't that a word? Oh well. Next time.
i would have never guessed it, but very cute!!
really great teaser. i don't know anything about mythology so thanks for the lesson. i unscrambled all the words, but got number 4 wrong i got inlist. very enjoyable and teasing teaser. makes the little gray cells work hard wish they had worked a little harder and i might have solved this one. but there is always next time, i am enjoying this web site wish i had known about it sooner. brainster thank you for doing so good hope to see more of your teasers..........
Yep, unfortunately my brain matter - smattered or splattered or whatever. Neat teaser Brainster, but it definitely made me wonder what happened to mine - Brain I mean.
Actually, the widely accepted view is that it has the lion head in the front along with a goat head growing out of the back and a snake head as the tail. Great job!
