Claire's Will
Logic-Grid
Logic Grid puzzles come with a handy interactive grid that will help you solve the puzzle based on the given clues.Logic-Grid
Claire Agard, deceased at the age of ninety-seven, has left a will dedicating her sizable fortune to her niece, to her nephew, and to Johnny, her faithful assistant for the past twenty years.
Unfortunately, she employed the services of one of the most unorganized solicitors in town, who lost the will and evoked the anger of just about every family member benefited by it (namely Johnny's wife, the niece's sons, and the nephew's already angry creditors).
However, the young solicitor was flattered to be employed by the richest woman in the small town, so he took notes. It was simply too interesting for him to resist.
Can you find out what each person's last name is, who received what amount of money, and who inherited what portion of her widespread real estate?
First Names: Kara, Johnny, Reginald
Last Names: Jennings, Ouna, Simpkins
Monetary amounts: $2 million, $6 million, $800,000
Real Estate portions: The Cabin, The Tudor, The Georgian
Clues:
1. The heirs are: Kara, the person surnamed Ouna, and the person who inherited The Georgian.
2. Johnny's last name is not Jennings. Kara's last name is not Ouna.
3.Reginald has deep gambling debts, but his aunt was unsympathetic and gave him the least amount of money. He had had his eye on a piece of old, English-style property, though, and that she gave to him.
4. Kara's last name is 25 letters away from her piece of real estate.
5. Both of Johnny's initials are in the word 'Joker'.
6. Reginald has often been subject to ridicule because of his last name.
7. Ouna got 2 million, and a first-class backwoods lodge.
8. The person who inherited 6 million also got a Tudor, and they were very excited to find that Claire had installed a swimming pool...party time!!!
Good luck! (By the way, Kara has ensured a reward of $60,000 to the first to solve...)

hey, i got it, had to start over about 6 times
that was easy you said she would give the first people to solve it $60,000 so prodyg should get 60,000
Strangely misleading clues, but I finally got it.
Thanks for all the comments, everyone!
Too bad the reward wasn't real.
the second part of clue #2 is unneccesary and the clue about reginalds last name didn't make a lot of sense to me. other than that i like it.
...did not need all the clues
Clue 5: All the last names start with a letter in Jokers. So the clue doesn't narrow anything down.
The last part of clue 2 isn't neccessary.
i did not get it at all, i got a few things down but the other stuff just made me confused
Thanks everyone. This is my first teaser, so I'll work on making my other ones better
I submitted a correction, so I hope it's better ~!
i agree with the other comments. good job on a first teaser, though.
the last part of clue 3 is misleading I thought it was refering to the Tudor.
it do not get it
ipaw, a Georgian is also English-style. Like King George?
I don't know... nice try, but I didn't think it was set up very well.
Clue #5 is fine because "Jokers" does not repeat the "J" twice, so Johnny's last name must start with "O" or "S". It is Clue #2 that is not necessary due to Clue #1 and #5.

Nice one with the Georgian and Tudor mix. Most wouldn't know the Georgian style orginated in England.
that completely confused me and u would need to know more than the clues give to figure out some of them such as the english style settlement clue
i had to do it like two times..........
i got it in the end though.lol,i got confused with the tudor and georgerian.
and i dont need to tell you the last part of clue two was redundant

I agree that there were several extra clues, but I still enjoyed it!
I liked how some of the clues seemed unnecessary....maybe I'm just slow, but it made it so you had to really think through whether or not you needed the clue. Good job!
Congrats on your first teaser! It was cute but a little too easy and some clues were confusing or unnecessary. But....you did it! I hope you will do another one real soon.
I thought that it was pretty hard, but I did it without the answers!
Thanks everyone. I'll try to do better next time!
I thought it was cute. I liked the Tudor and Gregorian style mix, even though I knew both were English, I did get a bit confused between the 2. I did not really understand clue #4, but I did figure it out the first time through. I think for a first teaser, it was pretty good. Don't get discouraged and keep them coming. Thank you for submitting it.
I got this pretty easily in spite of the clues. Half of them don't give you any relevant information, and a few of them give you the same information found in other clues. I realize it's your first so I'm not trying to rip you apart, just give you some constructive criticism for future teasers.
Thanks crumbbum.
strange...easy...COOL!!!!!!
Thank you Kaylum.
GR8 1, Katherine! Keep them coming!
Thanks (tired of hearing that yet? ) Alicia.
I changed clue 4 and part of 5, so hopefully that makes the teaser clearer for everyone! =)
Don't need: Clue #2 (last half), #5, #6, and #8.
*shrug* They're there, so too bad.
I liked it! The unnessrey stuff just made it harder to figure it out! (Which is a good thing to me.) I liked this one and I don't see how the second could be much better with the changes you wanna make. Good job!
thanks, lavender!
Thanks for a good brainteaser akl. I enjoy the story that goes with it . Could you explain Clue #4. I can't begin to figure out what it't referring to.
Sure, lab, and thanks!
If you count 25 letters from the letter K, you will come up with the letter L. Kara's last name begins with an L.

Sorry, typo.
Yeah, but her piece of real estate is the tudor so 25 letters away from that is S, not J.
It was a cute story and very creative, but the clues are not clear and some are unnecessary.
I love the story though and think you were very creative, good job for a first puzzle.

Clue #4 is just wrong. I guess it's supposed to say "25 letters from her first name", rather than "from her piece of real estate"?
