Menacing Matchsticks VII
Trick
Trick brain teasers appear difficult at first, but they have a trick that makes them really easy.Trick
You will need ten matchsticks for this.
First, take seven matchsticks and make the digital representation of 8. After that, take the other three matchsticks and place them on the short edge of the 8, such that the matchsticks look like a 3x1 rectangle.
The last three matchsticks take away the distinction of the matchstick body to the number 8. The number 8 is known to be just above 7. The challenge is this: move three matchsticks to make something that is "just above 7".
All matchsticks must be within the object. Matchsticks must not be removed, stacked, or broken. The matchsticks must all stay together connected.

Hint
Hint: Try looking around for a 7, and see what's just above it!Answer
Take the bottom horizontal matchstick and, without rotating it, place it directly left of the horizontal matchstick that is third from the top. Next, take the bottom right-hand vertical matchstick, and, again without rotating it, place it as an extension of the first matchstick you moved, such that the bottom tip of the matchstick meets up with the protruding tip of the first matchstick moved. (In other words, the two matchsticks you have moved form an L.) Lastly, take the lower matchstick of the right edge (which consists of two matchsticks), rotate it 90 degrees, and place it such that the left-hand tip of the matchstick touches the uppermost tip of the second moved matchstick, and the right-hand tip is directly left of the horizontal matchstick second from the top. View the matchsticks from a 45 degree angle (either move your perspective to the left or the matchsticks counter clockwise) to see an ampersand (&), which, on a keyboard, is directly above the 7.Hide Hint Show Hint Hide Answer Show Answer
