Clever Jenny XIII
Situation
Situation puzzles (sometimes called lateral thinking puzzles) are ones where you need to ask lots of yes or no questions to figure out what happened in the situation. These are good puzzles for groups where one person knows the puzzle and answers the questions.Situation
Jenny parked her car and let herself into her Mom's house, calling out, "I'm here!"
She looked around the well-lighted living room, admiring how much tidier her Mom's place was than her own.
"Hi, Jen; I'm almost ready. We want to get there early to get a close parking place."
"Sure thing! We have concert reservations, but I'd rather not walk a mile to the hall!"
"I just have to get on my scarf and fix my hair. Oh, darn! The scarf's wrinkled, and I especially wanted to wear it with this dress! You know, your Dad got me this scarf."
Jenny offered, "Can I press it for you quickly while you do your hair?"
"Thanks, Jen, but my iron is kaput; I need to go buy another one! (Sigh!) Guess I won't wear my scarf!"
Jenny replied, "Oh, what a shame!" Then she had an idea.
"Mom, you go fix your hair and let me see what I can do."
"OK, but please don't use that wrinkle spray on it; the colors might run!"
A few minutes later, Mom appeared, looking well coiffed. Seeing her scarf, she exclaimed, "Oh, dearest Jenny! My scarf looks great! Thank you; this is splendid! What did you do to it?"
What had Jenny done?

What had Jenny done?
Answer
Jenny removed the shade from the lamp in Mom's living room. Very quickly, she slid the scarf back and forth along the warm light bulb. The heat from the bulb removed the wrinkles and creases from the scarf and soon it looked as if it had been ironed.Note: This trick is only effective for small items like scarves or collars; it won't work well on pants or other large items. If you try this at home, use a scrap of material or an old handkerchief first to check to make sure the bulb isn't hot enough to scorch the fabric of what you want to wear. Also if you aren't such a great housekeeper, better dust off the top of the bulb first!

that was hard o-o
No wonder she's called Clever Jenny! Clever teaser, too
OMG that's lame. Ok, there's NO mention of a lamp in the teaser. This is more lame than those "birbal" teasers that can have 1,000 different answers. My answer is right too..Jenny was soo "clever" that she fixed the iron...or maybe used the stove to get the iron hot (wait, no mention of a stove)..or maybe she farted on it. Better luck next time.
I liked it. Thanks for the nifty idea and a teaser combined in one!
Meanwhile, I shall be eagerly awaiting Zembobo's first teaser...

Hard, but my guess was that she used a radiator- if one was on...
Cool riddle- clever Jenny!

Nice teaser! Very clever, indeed. Zembobo... that is the whole POINT of situation teasers. Read the category description before you criticize something.
I agree with bookworm, plus, it was also a "well-lighted room", so it even led you to it.
Anyway, fairly hard but very nice teaser "D

Interesting solution but hardly a situation teaser. Belongs in trivia or maybe even Science. Won't be happening any more as our country has passed legislation banning the sale of incandescent light globes. All globes will be fluorescent from now on - too cooll man!
Thanks for your comment, Jimbo; good point! I'm not sure the ban will happen in the US soon because of the concern about mercury. If it does happen, then Jenny's Mom will have to pay better attention to keeping her scarves ironed!
Good one! Very difficult. I like your "Clever Jenny" teasers.
Wow...Keep this up!
I was close-- I thought she used the hood of her car (hot from the drive over). But I guess that just shows that I'm a man, thinking of the car first, and not caring about getting her scarf dirty. ("But, Mom, the wrinkles are gone!")
