Brain Teasers
Nothing to Everything
Another of my rhyming word ladders. This one is quite challenging -- you will probably have to work forwards and backwards to get all seven words referenced below.
-----------------
Start with nothing.
Drop the first and add an N
to make what you could put cookies in.
Add a letter, then you'll see
what a kind of cloth might be.
Drop last two, turn it about.
Your honesty won't be in doubt.
Change V to T and add ER
For a good place from which to see far.
Change first to L and you will find
what all else is to the word behind.
Replace the middle, drop last one.
Everything you have! And now you are done.

Hint
Nothing, of course, doesn't mean "nothing."Answer
LOVE: In tennis, "love" means nothing.OVEN: a place you might put cookies (to cook them)
WOVEN: describes some cloth
VOW: Your honesty won't be in doubt.
TOWER: a good place from which to see far
LOWER: Everything is lower than a tower.
LOVE: Love is everything, because if you don't have love, you have nothing.

Thanks. I intentionally make these so that it is very hard to get the first word right away. The idea is that you should be work out what a couple of the letters are (or were) from the hints, and then work out one of the words. Once you get one of the words, the clues can be worked backwards, more or less, to get the ones before it.
The word I most expected to be the "hook" in this case was the fifth one (a good place from which to see far), since you know it has a T and an ER. (In all of these, I shoot for one of the middle words to be the hook, though I don't always succeed.)
I am a little curious, from the people who solved it, what word was your hook?

No hook here, I didn't get it. Try as I might, I was totally lost. Great teaser. Thanks for posting, it sure did keep me busy.
I couldn't figure out the first one (love) but I guessed "oven," after realizing that "jar" doesn't contain an N . Unfortunately, I gave up after that - the cloth rhyme was a bit tough.
So in answer to your question, I guess "oven" would be my moment of inspiration, albeit shortlived...
Zag24, I thought this was a great one. I also got oven first, although not before thinking of "jar" (which has no "N") and "urn," which does.
Thank you for this one. I really enjoyed it.

Was stumped with the first one as I know nothing (haha pun intended) about tennis
