If O2 is O=O.
H2O is H-O-H,
and CO2 is O=C=O,
then what might this represent?
=James=

Hint
Would MQ be M-Q or M=Q?Answer
"Bond, James Bond."In chemistry, particularly organic chemistry, molecules are drawn using - and = to represent covalent bonds between the atoms making a molecule. (There are triple bonds too, but I can't represent those using the basic character set). A covalent bond has both atoms sharing an electron pair, or sharing two electron pairs in a double bond. In the initial examples, there are representations of oxygen, water and carbon dioxide molecules. The advantage in organic chemistry, for these representations, is that larger and larger molecules could have the same atoms but in different configurations, (such as ketones and aldehydes, for example).
The title is a quote from Bond in Dr No, referring to the age of the champagne bottle he was defending himself with. The hint is simply a reference to Bond's boss, M, and the research and development man, Q.

Woot! First comment! That one was good.
That was really clever! Thank you
'Fraid you lost me there!
Wow. I had no idea, and I'm glad I checked the answer as soon as I was sure of that. The answer was really good though, and it made me think I probably could've gotten it if I thought "outside the box"..... oh well, maybe next time! (I rated this fun and hard, just because.)
Easy for me, but fun...
i thought that wuz great! i didn't get it tho
glad to see some quality teasers here again,,,good job
And here I took chemistry, but I was thinking too much about other life items. This is a top quality teaser, to be able to slip by this character, without getting another good answer for it. Well done!
Wow, thanks everyone. You've left me stirred, not shaken.
Great teaser!! I would never have gotten that answer but once I saw it the answer made perfect sense!!
i figured, obviously, James Bond, but thought the use of double bonds, not signle would somehow make "double oh seven" but couldnt work it out - very nicely done. Thought it was easy enough, but clever and fun. good job!
*feels retarded and dumb for not getting answer*
good one though

Now that you know, we'll have to kill ya. Good One.
Absolutely loved it, though I "jumped the gun" and went with "James Bond" for my answer (the actual answer is much better). Glad I didn't see the title or the hint. As a 7 fan it would have made it too easy! Thanks for submitting.
PS: I'm going to shoot this one into my faves!
Knowing absolutely nothing about organic chemistry it"s safe to say I had no idea what this was about.Sorry about that. I'm sure it is a very good teaser from reading the other comments.
XIEXIE NI! (THANK YOU!)
Had no trouble getting the answer, but I figured it seemed like the clue was too much for such a simple answer, so I kept trying to figure out more.
Not to seem harsh, but when I decided to read the hint before checking the answer, I was sure there had to be something to the single bond versus double bond thing. Posing the question of whether MQ would use a single or double bond seems a bit unfair (especially as a hint) when the type of bond has no bearing whatsoever. I think it would have been better if you had worked the M-Q thing in there without referencing the type of bond. Just my thoughts

That was good. Once I saw the answer I didn't know why I couldn't get it. I guess my mind was on a totally different path. Great teaser. You stumped me!!!
I myself am shaken AND stirred!
I never took chemistry, so I had no clue. Seeing the answer and your explanation was an education in itself! Thank you for a good lesson presented in a most clever fashion!!!

Still scratching my head.... I didn't understand it at all... sorry!
I enjoy these Brain Teaser,it funbut it get you to think what the answer is.
Keep up the good work!
God Bless Y'all!

God Bless Y'all!
that is a very good teaser. i wish i had taken chemistry. i didn't even understand the explaination.
LOL!!! I got it right!!
I LOVE IT!!!!
too tuff for me
AWSUM!!!!!!!!!!!!
This was great!!! I loved it!! I too thought it was James Bond and didn't get the first Bond, I was trying to add a 007 somewhere in there too...
Great teaser!!! Going in my faves!!!
Great teaser!!! Going in my faves!!!
nice!
umm..how bout in english?!?!?! no idea what you are talking about! i got the whole james bond thing though!!
I guess I'm 'on the rocks' and not even 'straight up'. I had no clue..... started with Santa - hohoho..
How bout in English? It is. And the word is about.
Glad most of you liked the teaser, and enjoyed learning something new. That's what it's all about.

clever...and I love James Bond! (I am in the graduating class of 007)
Very clever, I love it. I didn't get it, but it was great. =]
Really, really great. Passed it around and got lots of cool groans.
Well, Freddy, you stumped me. Sorry to say, since Sean hasn't been 007, I have sort of lost interest. Super great teaser tho. And your informative explanation was doable, even by me.
Couldnt get it, as I havent studied organic chemistry. The = signs did ring a bell, though, but not loud enough to venture a guess. Seems to be a good teaser.
Easy but clever
Ahhh... very clever. I kicked myself when I saw the answer.
i liked it - thanks
Say What!
Mind giving me that in Layman's Language?
Mind giving me that in Layman's Language?
Very clever!
In "layman's" terms, and reduced down:
= in chemical equations, means bond; so =james= literally translates to:
"bond, james bond"
of course I didn't know this until I read Freddie's great explanation.

I also studied chemical engineering in college,so this was pretty easy for me,but was an excellent teaser.
Although I got it, it kinda miss led me. = is a double bond for a "Bond Bond James Bond Bond"
I agree with the previous comment; I came up with "Double Bond James Double Bond". I believe it would have made more sense if it had been -James-.
But otherwise a great teaser!
But otherwise a great teaser!
I just ended up getting "James Bond." I figured = was a double-bond so that didn't help me out.. nor did the title which made me try to make it into some kind of car lmao....
The hint didn't help me at all since I've never seen any Bond movies

Although I recognized the arrangement of elements as representing oxygen, water, and carbon dioxide, not having taken a unit in organic in over 40 years, the word 'bond' escaped me; therefore, I could only come up with James II (British king). Glad so many enjoyed this!
I first thought "007", seeing the double bond reference. Then I thought, "Wait; Bond; James Bond".
Chalk one up for the blonde girls! Yay!!
Chalk one up for the blonde girls! Yay!!
I spent two minutes pondering before the word "bond" paired with "James" in my head to make the answer. The great thing about senility is I get to have fun solving a puzzle I solved three years ago. I know I did it. I gave this teaser a star.
Although the teaser was pretty easy for anyone with even a remedial knowledge of chemistry, I enjoyed it. Whether or not a single bond or double bond should have been used does not change the quality of the teaser, and since only one answer made sense (who is Bond Bond James Bond Bond?) what does it really matter? It was refreshing to see an original teaser.
I knew it immeadeatly from the quote
"That's a Don Perignon 55, It'd be a pity to break it"
"That's a Don Perignon 55, It'd be a pity to break it"
I loved this! *adds to favourites*
Was thinking double agent or something. Because of the double bond.
If you know nothing about chemistry, then you will know nothing about this teaser.
a bit too abstruse
I just got James Bond but will still consider myself right lol
Interesting idea. Well presented. Definitely targeted at a niche audience.
