Brain Teasers
A Roaring Call
Riddle
Riddles are little poems or phrases that pose a question that needs answering. Riddles frequently rhyme, but this is not a requirement.Riddle
I run forever,
With a roaring call.
Yet I have no throat,
Or any legs at all.
Rock wears away,
Whilst I grow.
You try to race me,
And receive a blow.
What am I?
With a roaring call.
Yet I have no throat,
Or any legs at all.
Rock wears away,
Whilst I grow.
You try to race me,
And receive a blow.
What am I?
Answer
A waterfall.Water runs constantly and makes a sound described as a roar. Rock at the bottom of a waterfall wears away, and it grows longer. If you race a waterfall, you'll hit the rock below, and therefore receive a blow.

I like it. Well written, good job
Thanks so much!
Very nice job. Nice poem.
good wording! I like the poem!
I got it the second line. Yay me!!
i actually really liked this one nice job!!!
I loved it! Hope you don't take this the wrong way though, waterfalls don't last forever. Partially because of erosion, the other part is the fact that the rivers don't run forever, they can go dry. It would take forever but it still would. Because of this I thought the ocean. Please don't think I am criticizing I still loved the riddle and the way you wrote it! i would never get as good!
Okay. No offense taken.
drat i was gonna use this one
I thought it was well-written, in spite of others' comments to point out an insignificant flaw. Well done!
Nice riddle. Well written. Enjoyed it but thought it was a river. Thanks for posting.
I was close I knew it had something to do with water.
I thought it was the ocean, but very well done.
One of the easier ones.
I thought it was the wind. "race the wind" "rocks erode"
That's what I get for thinking1
Nice Riddle!

I wasn't really sure, but that was my guess!

Really very, very, easy! Did not even have to think. Hey don't forget that I like easy so don't get upset. HA!
Instead of a waterfall, let this old easy teaser fall into the trash can. Hi Mi & Ct
Again, I'm seeing it for the first time, dh.
I didn't get it, as I was caught between wind and river. I don't get how you race a waterfall. I was glad that there were others who mentioned river or wind!
Hope gw's ok!

(The) wind made more sense as nobody "races" a waterfall while "race the wind" is a common idea. Also, waterfalls do NOT grow over time. In fact they tend to shrink lower and back as they erode their own precipice. Seasonal waterway swelling with the local wet season notwithstanding.
Sorry. Fails
Sorry. Fails
I too got it right away, but perhaps the fact I am leaving in less than an hour to go to Niagara Falls for the afternoon helped. My mind was on that as I read it.
Adding on to eamon's comment, I also thought the answer was 'wind', especially because of the last clue about 'receiving a blow' (very wind-like)
This time I got it right.
I hope there is no next time.
Hi K. & G.
I hope there is no next time.
Hi K. & G.
easiest brain teaser i've ever done, but still fun
I too thought ocean because of the race. I thought surfers trying to outrun a wave and getting a blow. Don't know how anyone could race a waterfall. Enjoyed it , but like ocean or wind better.
Sorry!
Sorry!
Wind?? Remember, there are calm days, too. Rivers can go for long stretches without roaring.
It had to be waterfalls.
It had to be waterfalls.
Very old and very easy.
Best answer is wind. Second is river. Next is waterfall. The "run" points to river. The last two lines point hard at wind and deny waterfall. Not a bad teaser, but not my fave.
At first I thought it was a river, but then after rereading it, waterfall made more sense. Nice poem.
I thought of rapids, and kayakers working diligently to stay afloat as they swiftly descend, hoping not to receive a blow from the treacherous roaring waters.
Fun and entertaining teaser. I also thought it was wind.
