Take all sorrow out of life and you take away all richness, and depth, and tenderness. The capacity of sorrow belongs to our grandeur. It is the furnace that melts hearts together in love.

In Habs way of making a disclaimer... there is NO way, NO how that I am boss. Pilgrim, those words on the memo answer would NEVER come out of my mouth, or off my keyboard. John Wayne is as big as they come... his movies will be here long after we are gone. Movie stars like John, Gregory Peck, Marlon Brando, Henry Fonda, Katharine Hepburn and Spencer Tracy... they just hit home and their work will not be forgotten. You may not go and see them on the big screen, but they are still there.
The fact remains, looks like only a mandatory was fired. Could that be because there were three votes on Dr Hoo and he could not fire one of them and if he fired someone else, the rest of us would know the boss was trying to dodge a bullet.
I actually thought for a bit that Jayo could have been involved in the boss/rat situation; but a personal situation must have caused Jayo to not be able to be on line. I believe he lives up in the north east area? Anyway, good luck Jayo.
I will stick with my Dr Hoo vote until I am fired or lose because I am the only one voting for him... no one voting for him yet has been fired.
Edit... vote confirmed. BTW: John was never a swashbuckler... he did some Navy movies, even one where he was a German freight caption, but no pirate movies.

I am not the boss.
I'll say it again: I am not the boss.
I think the boss is either FatHead or scrubb.
I'm leaning FatHead - he'd have that sort of sass about John Wayne, and would be knowledgeable about the pop music quotes.
I'd rule out RGW or froggy, and if RGW knew me, he'd put me in that group. I grew up with the Stones on the record player (not CD or MP3 - vinyl).
Whovian is middle ground - she's a bit younger than me, but she likes both old and new stuff.
Aishadt seems to be just learning the game, and I think the boss has played a bit and knows to obscure the memo responses.
That leaves scrubb and FatHead.
So I'm voting FatHead

I think FatHead is a good candidate. Vote locked and loaded.

Well, I'm still here after voting for Dr. Hoo but he does bring up some interesting points in his post above.
For now, I'm going to vote for FatHead but may change it before the round is over.
Randy, some of my favorite movies with John was when he was with Maureen O'Hara who also did Rare Breed with James Stewart. Another good movie. I've probably seen all of the old westerns with John as well as lots of the other stars from the Golden Age of Hollywood. My Dad loved all those movies and so we all watched them with him while we were growing up. To this day, I sometimes will see one listed an one of the old cable stations and sit down and watch an old black and white movie like I used to do with my Dad.
SMILE and people will wonder what you are up to!

I sort of want to believe you Hoo, just not convinced, my gut right now tells me otherwise. I have to go back and look at a couple games, because of the way the play is going.
The fact is this last round no one was fired, but I suspect the boss could have only fired two, such as this round. With Jayo being a mandatory, only one optional firing would have been allowed. Getting another vote on you would give the boss two choices (if you are not)... but I also do not like the fact that Fathead jumped off the vote on me at the last minute just after I moved off the vote on you a few rounds ago. The boss wouldn't really care about jumping ships at the last minute unless he was in only a two person majority and there were no others... would really tie his hands. This makes me believe more that Fathead could be the rat trying to confuse things... and still I come back to my gut feeling.
I will hold my vote on you for now... it's ok if the majority goes on Fathead. I sort of would like to see if he is the boss or those who vote for him are fired.
When you Love someone, Love them with all your heart as you never know what can happen today!

Sorry for double post, but its not really game related.
My list of 'A' actors from our era was far from complete. Jimmy, Maureen would have been on it, Mitchum, Cagney, Widmark... and the names go on.
I hear you Froggy.
One of my favorite Stewart movies was (and there were a lot of them too) "The Glenn Miller Story". It wasn't because it was great acting, but the first time I saw it was around 1990 while visiting my parents at their house at the Colorado River. We sat in their little family room, just the three of us, my wife content playing with our kids in the other room, watching it unfold on the TV. I had never seen it, though they had, and just loved the true story. I shared it with my parents, they shared it with me. It was a day a person always remembers... even if it was not high in action. I see it on TCM now, and I try to make time to sit and watch it again. Don't want to record it for whenever, just wait for it to come out in a normal time period.
It's a wonderful life and Mr Smith goes to Washington would be my two favs of his.
The only John Wayne movies I did not care much for were Brannigan and McQ... but I have watched all of his shows at one time or another; and back in the day of VHS, I pretty much had all his movies on tape. Still have them, but quality is not so good anymore.
Sorry Snowy, but you were the one with the John Wayne prompt... you took us down memory lane... well, all but the boss it appears.

I love the Jimmy Stewart films you mentioned - with Mr. Smith being my favorite. I also love "Harvey" and that is a movie that isn't on TV nearly enough. Jimmy did his fair share of westerns, including at least one with John Wayne himself: The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance. He was versatile and definitely also a nice guy.
I like actors who seem to be good guys in real life (or at least that's the image they project). Jack Lemmon comes to mind. And among the current crowd, Tom Hanks stands out. Actors who act and don't get into trouble, lol.
I hope snowy doesn't mind the off-topic stuff. For me, the chatter always made WTB games better, in my opinion. Ah, the good old days.

I have sass? I'm very surprised. Well, on second thought, I guess not. Hmm.
Anyway, I'm glad WTB is more like Clue than like Werewolf. Me, I think I'll vote for DrHoo, too, based on RGW's message. I'm sorry, but I'm not the Boss anymore than anyone else is (?), but as convincing as the dr. is, I cannot vote for myself. (I mean, I can, but I can't win that way. Seriously, anyone who votes for himself or herself every round survives to the end, but doesn't win unless the Boss goes inactive.)

I don't mind the extra chatter about John Wayne. I love Westerns, just not cheezy ones, and he never did a cheezy one. . .. my favorite of all time is "The Cowboys", and I will hate the man/actor that killed John Wayne in that movie, until I die . . . . . yea, I know, he was just playing the part, but how dare he! Loved all the characters in that movie, except of course for the bad guys, especially, you know who. . . . . the kids really made that move just as much as J.W. did, in my opinion.
Hope all are enjoying the game.

You mean Bruce Dern Snowy. He was a pretty evil character.

This clue doesn't fit me either. I am a huge John Wayne fan. I can't believe no one has even mentioned True Grit (the first one, not the remake). I remember watching that movie, the entire family waiting to see if John would tire of the girl! Or how about the Sons of katie elder? My personal favorite was The Undefeated. I am not sure what chord it hit with me, but it did.
I hate to go back to it, but I am still thinking Froggygg, but I have not played with Hoo before. I know some people who deny being the boss vigorously only to be the man. And I also feel that whovi has been really silent. I could vote Fathead or DrHoo because we need someone cleared.
As far as the songs are concerned, I don't know if it matters what we grew up with. Anybody can find a song, even if they don't know the singer. For instance, I did not know the artists Ella Henderson - or at least I did not think so - but after going to the URL, I found she also sings a song called ghost, which is being played now. And I have heard it. I just did not know she sung it because I don't really remember artists very well.
And yes, Snowy. This has been a fun one - so far.
Fathead - confirmed.

I laughed when I saw this... and I sort of agree. However, I got thinking about this diabolical character and decided to see if he ever really came across as a nice guy... not quite sure. But he had a personal quote that I had to laugh about:
"Because I'm the only actor who ever killed John Wayne in a picture, producers have pegged me for a villain."
Technically this is not true, because in The Shootist, he got shot by a couple and died because of the wounds.
In all, there are 7 known movies he died during the movie... the before mentioned Cowboys & now The Shootist (his last movie).
In The Alamo, a mexican soldier plunged a lance into him, though the wound did not kill him and he was able to enter the armory and blow up the gun powder and himself in the process.
He is shot by a Japenese sniper at the end of Sands of Iwo Jima
In Reap the Wild Wind he is brought to his doom by a giant squid.
Setting up a ship refueling depot, he was shot by another Japanese soldier as he prepared to jump off a bulldozer in The Fighting Seabees. The bulldozer went to one side, ripped a hole in one of the oil tanks and exploded, John Wayne not able to get away.
Wake of the Red Witch found him in scuba equipment, where he discovered that his love had gone down with the ship he scuttled. An octopus made sure he went down with the Red Witch as it plunged off the sea cliff underwater.
So, although John Wayne didn't die in very many of his movies, he did allow a few. His career started in 1928 with Fox, then with Columbia. An interesting note, in 1931 he was under contract with Columbia and they had him come in to play a corpse in The Deceiver. After all of his "B" movies up to 1939 when he did Stagecoach he was classified as an "A" lister. He never worked for Columbia again.
Ok, I just thought I would throw this out. Just so the boss knows JW is not a has been in everyone's eyes.

I'm not that into Hollywood, so I got no idea what u guys are talking about. I put my vote for dr.hoo, cuz I don't know what to think anymore. :p.
Anyway with the votes at 3:4, I got a plan. But I'll share it with all of you once the results come.

Well, I look forward to this plan.
Holy cow, I can't believe everyone thinks it's me. Except for the fact that one of my other handles (on RPG sites) is Swashbuckler, though.
I hope I don't regret my vote - nor anyone else. Of course, the Boss needs two votes to go, even if everyone else but one is gone. We'll just have to see.

Scrubs said it correctly Fathead... it wouldn't be much fun if the boss told the truth that they were the boss, would it? However, even in the psych question answer, though the boss must answer honestly, it is okay to be a little mysterious.
You take the prompt this round... I probably wouldn't have jumped all over it with facts, my admiration and joy in watching his movies in the prompt answer if I was boss; but I know I would not put him down. It would have been more of a praise of his works in a mildly excited way. In other words, it would have been a positive comment but not anything like he is one of my favorite actors.
It also is very important that the players who are not the boss and the rat do tell the truth. You can get vibes from players that way... but over doing the "I am not the boss" can be counter productive whether by the boss or a player, in my humble opinion.
3 1/2 hours to go...
Those who voted for Fathead... what is your instincts about that. I look at the voting list, suspect our rat is still with us. So if the boss is either DrHoo or Fathead, it would be safe to say the boss and the rat are both voting for the same person. If as suggested, the boss might be Scrub or ?, then the boss and rat could easily be split in their vote. And frankly Fathead and DrHoo, I suspect your votes are just because you can not vote for yourself.

well, I did have some doubts about DrHoo. Scrubs is possible, but for now, I will throw in with the majority and vote Fathead.
The main reason is the prompt this round... I could see someone from Europe not necessarily trying to defend if John Wayne meant anything to them or not... but Fathead said nothing, one way or the other. I might as well stick my neck out and cross my fingers.
Edit - vote confirmed changed
If wrong and fired, good luck

I take it everyone is afraid to say anything... so I will triple post to not edit.
Oops... the boss is not Fathead.
Time will tell where the firings go.
Snowy, I watched that evil guy today shoot John Wayne again. It was on my DVR from TCM and decided to finally watch it. He had to shoot JW 5 times to put him down though! So glad he was "let up" at the end to ride away into the wind attached to a horse, but dragging behind. Even for a stunt person, that has to hurt somewhat.
