Dennis, Emily, Katrina, Rita, and Wilma are five friends who went to elementary school together. Can you help them sort out their homes and hobbies?

Good one...
I like how each of the friends is named after one of the hurricanes from this last hurricane season!

I liked it cuz it's not too easy or hard!
donquixote...I was wondering if anyone would notice that...Also, the location is where they struck (but don't tell anyone)
I finally got this after many tries and much storming! It is clever and fun!
thanx!

Clue 2 is problematic. It is tempting to deduce that if Rita does not love avalanches, that the second statement is false and therefore the first statement is true.
However, Rita not loving avalanches only makes the second statement false if you find that Dennis is in fact the hurricane lover.
If you find that Dennis loves tsunamis, you know nothing about Rita.
Also, declaring that one of the statements is true does not mean that the other statement is false.
It would be more correct to state, "Either Dennis is Cuban or Dennis is the Hurricane lover."

YOU overevaluate things
Don't think too hard, your brain will burst.

I thought it was GREAT that the names were after the Hurricanes and their respective destruction zones. Being from Texas, I enjoyed it greatly (the teaser, not Rita). Good Job and keep them coming!
Actually, Xyzzy, you would have to say that either Dennis is Cuban and Emily is Mexican, or Dennis is the hurricane lover and Rita loves avelanches, but I agree with Winner, don't analyze too much, that takes the fun out of doing these puzzles.
I was in THREE hurricanes!!!
(out of those five)
it was good
not too easy like many i have found not bad either
nice thanks

Xyzzy...the trick is skipping that clue until you find out further information. Good Logic Grid!
thanks, everyone, for all the good comments.
Fun and challenging, which is all I ask of in a logic grid. Thanks for the great teaser.
Good teaser. However being in LA I would think that Katrina should be from Louisiana.
Actually, Katrina hit also in Mississippi and Alabama. I wanted to recognize that.
had trouble figuring out the waterskier and hurricane fanatics--good job
That was fun! I've wanted to solve this one for a loooooooong time and I finally got it...AT 9:54 IN THE MORNING!!! *applause* Nice job!
thanks for all the nice comments!!!
Great Teaser!
got it first try! i liked it a lot!
Thanks again for another "winner". I always look forward to your logic grids.
thanks everyone!!!!
i have only been doing these for a week and winner4600 is by far my favorite
working my way up from the bottom did the trick for me
Fun puzzle - thanks!
This is a clever structure for a teaser!! I love it
What helped for me was to work the clues backwards, from the last one to the first one.
I agree with the earlier comment that clue #2 isn't correct. As written, there's actually 4 possible solutions to this puzzle. The only way to come up with the 'correct' solution is to assume "One of these statements is true" does not actually refer to the 'if/then' statements but instead to the 'if' clauses in those statements.
Personally I had a feeling that was how it was intended, and it was confirmed when I saw that was the only way to come up with a unique solution. As to the comments about not taking it too seriously: to me, the fun is in successfully deducing the answer. The more assumptions or guesses required, the less fun I find it.
(Not saying that was the case here - it was still fun, and the clue did end up meaning what I suspected it meant ... but that was based on a guess, not logic).
