Brain Teasers
Double Riddle
Here's a riddle you can solve with ease.
You have to think, but if you are wise,
Take note of the special words I use.
You must use your ears and not your eyes.
It's one of a kind, no debt it owes.
What's unique? The answer you must seize.
Although it would help to see some jays,
I'm not talking of the birds and bees.
As you search through two not seven seas,
Note each line ends like a pair of peas.
Don't wait to answer, there are no queues.
You should know by now, I'm such a tease.

Finding the letter sounds in the riddle was very easy, but I was sure we were supposed to spell something with them. Would have been fun if you would have made us unscramble them to spell something.
Brilliant riddle, Marc! I can see a lot of thought and effort went into it! Definitely going on my favourites! Keep up the good work!
That's pretty neat
Excellant use and choice of words! And here, I am going slowly blind. But using my ears, allowed me to solve this teaser. Very outstanding work! I will look for more, in the future.
Most interesting.
Cool Riddle
I too, thought perhaps it was a spelling riddle. I would never have gotten this in a million years, but it was fun trying! Thanks for the brain stretch!
Well aren't I a dope!? I had forgotten that I had already worked this puzzle a year ago and here I was trying again to make words out of the letters E, Y, U, I, O, C, J, B and P!
yay, my name in a riddle.
AWESOME
Excellent!
Wow!!! you definately put a lot of effort into this teaser. I never even thought of that. I was totally lost even after reading the clue.
Amazing job!!! gonna go to my favorites.

Sweeeet!!! loved it Marc,
At first I thought it had something to do with the rhyming.. but then realized it had to do with letters....
thanks, it was a good one......

Great riddle. Thanks for making me wake up my brain before 7 am
I still can't understand this one...
Very interesting and well written. I'd have to agree that a great deal of work and thinking went into this one. Good job.
yuck
Oh Oh Well Well
very clever ! this was my first, morning brain teaser ! I love this site...thank you !
awesome
IS A DOUBLE RIDDLE, LIKE NO RIDDLE?
DID I MISS IT; WHERE'S THE RIDDLE?
DID I MISS IT; WHERE'S THE RIDDLE?
I loved this even though it was fairly easy. Using ones ears gave it away. The letter sounds came quickly, but the double part was a step behind. Very well written, a lot of thought went into this one, and I thank you for a great start to my morning.
I noticed right away that they were letters. It would have been better if we had to do something with those letters. Still, it was a pretty good teaser.
Very well written riddle, but a variation on it to have the letter sounds need to be used would be even cooler! Still though, great job!!
That one took alittle thinking, Evidently I didn't have a little.

Yeah, it was pretty easy to find the letters, but I thought it was going to be something more than that. Like you have to spell out a word, or unscramble the letters.
I kinda thought I had to unscramble the letters also.
It said no queques. So I eliminated the Q No Q??
Fun finding letters but didn't seem to be a finished riddle.

I loved this riddle but would also have liked to see it go the step further and have to spell something with the letters. Keep up the great work, MarcM1098! You're definitely on the right track with this one!
Figured out the letter thing right away and thought they were supposed to spell something until I read the hint. Still a good teaser, but I think there could have been more. On my faves!
My mind is tossing
For me my brain works that way, but it was still a good teaser!
That was a fun teaser!
I thought I was a good listener, but I didn't get even close to the answer.
identifying the letters were easy but i was trying to jumble the letters to form a new word. I guess i was thinking too much ahead !

Good teaser but it would be better to to use the letters to do more.
cool teaser!!!!!
i don't know. I really did not like this teaser. I agree that it should have gone a little further so that you had to do something with the letters. Was it really a double riddle?
I don't see how you can call this a riddle. It took a lot of thought to construct, but it's in the wrong category.
You must be reaally smart to be able to write somting like dat cuz i couldnt even figure it out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Good Puzzle,
but it would of been great if the letters spelt something, or were an anagram.

Awwww, your answer was much better than mine!! I just figured the riddle contained all the letters of the alphabet (after finding a bunch of the usual missing suspects, q, x, z..) ..but that's hardly unique. But your answer really does show the uniqueness of the poem!! Awesome!!
yeahhhh i thought it would at least spell something!! clever, but not well enough thought out...
Thanks for your comments. Actually, it was quite a challenge to write this rhyme. The only anagram of the given letters is not very interesting: Cub Copy Jet IQ. For me, the whole point of writing this teaser was to use all the double letters; the only way to get nice anagrams is to omit several of the double letter words, so I chose not to.
I see your still accepting praise on a very poorly explained teaser. Don't break your arm patting yourself on the back!!!
Untill I read the answer, I did not realize that I solved it. I did not even need the hint but I kept thinking of the next step to get the answer.
Fun teaser but should have been much better.

How does "Peas" sound like double p's? And "tease"?
Wow...a lot of thought went into this one! Great teaser...even though I didn't get it!
manicidiot - pea sounds like P
peas sounds like the plural of P.
tea sounds like T; tease like the plural of T.
Does that make sense?
and Doehead - I think you meant "you're".
This was a clever riddle, although many of us were looking for more!
Thanks, MarcM

Cute--and I'm impressed by your poetic skills. I, like some others, was trying to spell something. Then I wondered if the letter 'c' was unique because it was there twice..
I got to: Quip by Coy J., etc.
too bad your name isn't Coy J..
nice job!

Ok. I got it. But I thought there would be more to it.
I over-thought this and came up with an answer made from the letters, it was a pilot's ejector seat. Here's why: The letters are ( in no particular order, I'm going by my notes ) : E, Y, U, I, C, C, O, J, B, P, Q, T. The riddle reads "not..I's"; "not...B's"; and "no Q's". So, an anagram of the rest spells :OCCUPY JET . The riddle says it's something "special", "unique", and "one of a kind", (I figured the last might allude to the letters as well), thus, the pilot's ejector seat. What do you think?
This one was not to my taste at all. I am glad some agree with me.
Sorry!!
Sorry!!
Obilio had a neat idea! Works for me
O U R Y's
I saw this one in 2010 and STILL didn't get it! oh, well, there's always tomorrow!
I was thinking along the lines of Obilio, plus "no debt it owes" told me to remove any IOU letters, etc. I didn't get so far as to come up with a logical answer, though! Clever teaser -
Just two questions: 1. What is the question? 2. What is the answer?
Great riddle - very cleverly done!! Thanks!
Sorry Marc, I'm with Imurray on this one?
I saw the double letter mechanism, but then tried to figure out what the riddle was referencing. I tried to answer the riddle. I gave up and checked the hint, and saw the double letters was the answer.
That being said, I enjoyed the way this was written. It was clever and fun, so I enjoyed this. It's an imperfect teaser, but it was a fun exercise in creativity, rhyme, and self reference.

I did not get this one. I found it confusing and was not sure what I was supposed to come up with for an answer. I could see the double letters at the end of each verse but I had no idea that was the answer I was suppose to get for this teaser.
I felt the same as per mrbill51's comment above, until I looked at the hint. Lots of fun! I'm guessing that it was satisfying to compose as well, to come up with the ending words that sound like the plural forms of the letters. Good job!
