Cunning! It helped to play the scenario in my head.
Hehehe brilliant
The hint gave it away; great fun!
Easy, but very fun, well written, and imaginative! Thanks for submitting!
Fun Fun Fun
Easy, but well written none the less. Probably so easy for me because I've heard something very similar before. Oh well, still a good teaser.
I got it!! Didn't even look at the hint. Just had to concentrate on what the big old fancy words meant.Good, fun teaser.
I got it! I liked it, but I wish there had been MORE! I also thought the instructions might have been a wee-leetle-teeneey beet more... instructive. None the less, I figured it out, but was disappointed that there was only one, so I hope you do more. Thanks!
Fantastic! I totally enjoyed it Definitely, an Awesome approach to get anyone to find out about this tale. Of course, once they get it figured out, they should roll their eyes with humor and laughter. Keep these a coming
Too many big words got me discombobulated. I guess I just don't know Jack. Oh well, good teaser anyway.
got it after the hint, very clever!!
Thx for the fun
Thx for the fun
Funny, clever, needed the hint.
Ain't no shame in using the HINt!. After that it was a breeze!
I got it right!! That was an AWSOME teasr!! Their should be more like it!
Got it right away but still fun
Got the translation right, but didnt link it to Jack and Jill!
A good teaser.
A good teaser.
The translation is no problem, but I didn't get Jack and Jill because they are siblings or friends- not a research team.
The answer appears to be a team of volconologists, that go to a volcano crater and obtain a water sample. The first geologist falls, hitting his head and the other has to descend after him.

Got it right Did not need the hint way to start the morning looking forward to more thx
Suggestion- why not change the story to read KIN, OFFSPRING, ACQUAINTANCE or COLLEAGUES rather than research team
OR
explain in the beginning that the answer is to be a Mother Goose rhyme.
Love these type of teasers! Amazing how complicated language has become. We've come a long way...

I got went up the hill right away and naturally thought of Jack & Jill. I just figured a reasearch team or any team would be considered more than one person. I liked your teaser. Good Job!
Ha!
J&J on the rock w/o a splash. Cool.
Good one, and I concur w/ some earlier comments - the "research team" thing threw me for a loop...
This one is going in my favorites It was very enjoyable and very creative.
Very cool.
I would like to see a whole bunch more nursery rhymes rewritten in this fashion.

Did they ever get the water?
Teeheehee, that was amusing!! And who's to say Jack & Jill were not a research team?! Maybe they put the pail of water on the top of the hill to see if they could catch more rainwater from a greater height.
If that isn't what happened, why the heck would they be going up a hill to get water? A well wouldn't be built on the top of a hill, because then it would be farther away from the ground water it is meant to tap. Any standing water would likely run downhill anyways. So what gives?

got it but not till after I looked at the hint
nice!
Actually, there was an underground spring. Which found the soil and ground was weak through the middle, so it shot upwards. The builders of the time, were waiting on J & J to get to the top, so they could be instructed on how to build a dwelling which would house the liquid shooting through the ground. And the story goes on...
wow very inque and clever
Didn't get it until AFTER the hint, but that was great!! I agree with whoever said there should be more of these!!! I liked it!!!
i knew what happened but i didn't get it was a nursery rhyme and then i knew exactly what it was.... haha
Charming! You could make the hint harder by giving a more generalized clue. Something like, "You've heard this little tale before".
When my crown found Humpty, all the King's Men wouldn't let me think of J & J. Very clever!
The vague instructions made this pretty interesting. I didn't have any idea what the teaser might be referring to, and the unpredictability made it fun to figure out.
i knew what it was basically talking about, but i thought there were 2 people on top of a volcano, not a hill. So i visuallized that and so i didn't figure it out.
i got the three little pigs because the way i read it i got that the first two pigs got hurt but the third didnt
wooo! i got it! rili weird of me, but i ac2ali got it... haha... wen i was read'n all those big words, i was think'n, 'ther's gotta b n ezer way'... so, i thot of words synonymous 2 the 1s u had up... cool...
That was so cute. I really liked that one. It helped that I actually got it w/out looking at the hint. I figured it was a nursery rhyme or commom saying. Keep up the good work!!!!!!
I LIKED YOUR VERSION OF THE TALE BEST.
VERY GOOD AND WELL WRITTEN.
VERY GOOD AND WELL WRITTEN.
I thought it was "Two guys walked into a bar. The second one should have ducked"

Sorry to be a little late reviewing your teaser, but hey, what can I say. Any old grandma knows a nursery rhyme no matter how it is written.
Very well done though. More please?

Very well done
Needed the hint, but eventually got it. Very well done!
Woo Hoo! I got this right without the hint. Thanks for the fun!
Thanks for taking all the fun out of that nursery rhyme
how clever!
When did Jack & Jill become a research team? Give me a break!!!
Loved it! Very creative!
@Doehead - get over it and quite whining.
Research, or going by the more formal synonym, investigate, means to search or examine into the particulars of
Team is two or more people joining together for a common goal.
So, yeah, Research Team they were.

where in the nursery rhyme does it say that they weren't a research team?
It is up to the reader to decide.
nice one!

I liked it! Good job!
I looked at neither the hint nor even the answer!! I just pictured what the words were saying and was delighted to find Jack and Jill at the "bottom" of it all!!
And the people tearing apart the nursery rhyme: Shame on you! Get a life!
I thought this teaser was GREAT!!

The cranial damage gave it away for me. Very well written even if some people found fault with it. I loved it. Fun, Fun, Fun.
NICE1 GUYS!!
Thanks - I LOVED the teaser and I
figured it out too.
What I also love just as much are the wild comments everyone gives.
Especially the ones that complain
about the nit pickiest things!
hysterical!

sorry about sending it twice!!

All you people that said remarks about my answer can DROP DEAD. When did people in nursery rhymes become research teams. You are the ones that need to get a life and be realistic. If you don't like my answers so be it, but keep your remarks to yourself!!!!
if you dont like our remarks keep it to yourself!
Great interpretation!! More, PLEASE!!! For those who have a problem: Look at it as a POLITICIAN reciting "JACK and JILL"
Looks like doehead can dish it out, but can't take it. Maybe she/he would have been lsss likely to post his/her silly quibble if the term "reconnaissance" hd been used, instead of the word "research."
IT was okay. Faily easy even without the hint.
scallio's suggestion that the hint say it is a nursery rhyme is absurd to say the least, why not jut give the answer outright in the hint if that is the case. And I agree, who says they were not doing research? No one knows why they were going up the hill to get the water. There are a few alternate rhymes that attempt to explain that but I can't post them here.

Got this one right away, interesting view of the story.
One more comment . . . Easy big fella, it's just a teaser.

After reading all the comments,I have to agree with doehead. He told it like it is!!!
Hi CuteBug - I know DoeHead - he's been around for a long time. You would like each other - as you both think alike.
PS I liked this teaser! Well written!

Good puzzle, but...I thought I remembered this one. A "search teasers" for "Jack and Jill" produced a teaser very similar to this one. Stormtrooper in 2005 posted this teaser# 24693. Just keepin' it real, yo.
fun!
That was such a cute teaser. It made me laugh, but the comments were even funnier.
nice teaser indeed keep it up
Took me a couple of minutes but I got it. By the way, this teaser is directly copied from page 107 of a book titled "Inquire Within." By Douglas Liewellyn; Copyright 2014 (used here for educational purposes). I tried to paste a link to it but receive an error message disallowing a word longer than 50 characters. I typed "fluid hydride of oxygen" into Google Search and it came up about half way down the page.
If I've researched this correctly The 1'st edition of Inquire Within was July 25, 2001. It's a book of teasers.
easy but cute

Why would anyone build a well on top of a hill?
Cute. I'm not a big fan of this sort of teaser.
to TBT
"Why would anyone build a well on top of a hill?"
Because that's often where the best water is.
Rainwater runoff will settle into the ground and then can percolate UPWARD through sedimentary rock/sand such as sandstone and other non-igneous to higher levels than the local 'water table'. In a way, it's being filtered TWICE.
Thus the purest water is often found at higher elevations than average in the countryside. Just ask any farmer.
