I really like this idea
Confusing instructions: "...delete a few letters in each unrelated phrase in order to show the holiday."
But the answers weren't holidays.
But the answers weren't holidays.
Pretty clear to me and the editors: "In this teaser your task is to discover words, names and phrases relating to the holiday season."
I second the comment, so take it for what's it worth that it could have been worded better.
(I knew how to solve it, but only because I was tripped up on the same point on the previous one.)
Thanks.

Jazz, I agree, the directions are confusing. I also would not have known what to do if there wasn't a recent one like this. Other than that it is a good, tough teaser.
Jazz,The directions might be clear to you because you wrote them, but they are definitely confusing.I understood because you did one before.
C'mon - in the instructions, why not just say "related to Christmas." Ambiguity averted...
This was hard, but it was very fun. Great teaser!
No one said all daily teasers were going to be easy, and this was sure wasn't. Even though all of the words in the correct final word were in proper order, I couldn't for the life of me get any of them correct. So, Jazz, you got me again, but I sure enjoyed trying. Thanks for posting.
Everybody lighten up!!!!!!!!!
Or light up if that would make you relax.
i agree with everyone on the directions...way too confusing.
i understood once i saw the answers, but i had no clue what to do before then. i was looking for holidays, but there were none

AAACCCKKK!!!
More Xmas in April!
I thought the current "Holiday Season" is Passover...

Yea the to the holiday part is a little confusing but when I started deleting letters I got it.
im sorry, and i know its been said a zillion times, but i think the directions were just a little bit misleading.
but i learned something - from now on ill read ALL the directions instead of just the last sentence of them.

The words "show the holiday" combined with the example "Merry Christmas" implied that each answer would somehow be the holiday. I got "YULETIDE" and couldn't get the other three, which is a perfect score because those three are wrong, wrong, and wrong.
Multiple people pointed out that the teaser is improperly written. How did this make teaser of the day without being fixed?

Sorry, but I don't think I'm speaking in latin.
First sentence: "In this teaser your task is to discover words, names and phrases relating to the HOLIDAY SEASON."
Second sentence: "You are to delete a few letters in each unrelated phrase in order to show the HOLIDAY."
How complicated is that? I am talking a Holiday and Holiday Season. Shouldn't common sense prevail by indicating that both go together and are talking about the same thing? Clearly 'no' for some and 'yes' for others.
For those of us who have undergone the rigours of teaser submission will understand how difficult it is to get one submiited. Clearly, the 6+ editors who read my teaser understood the directions and found them to be crystal clear, otherwise it would not have been published.
In the end, it's only a teaser...it's not the end of the world!

Barticus, you don't read directions properly. The words are RELATED to a Holiday Season.
The main problem here is you don't say which "Holiday Season", just the THE Holiday Season - like there are no others. Like I said before, it's OK to call it Christmas...
Since the example was A HOLIDAY: and the last sentence said HOLIDAY, I too was looking for names of holidays. Sorry but I agree that this was tough to understand. 1 out of 10!
Well maybe I can get some tips from you on how to write a teaser properly then...when you go to the trouble of ever submitting one.
Nicely said Jazz...why don't some of these people learn to read directions?
Excellent teaser by the way!
Excellent teaser by the way!
The description still contains the words "show the holiday". It is still wrong.
It is not wrong!
Jazz, maybe things are different down under, but where I come from "holy infant" is not a holiday, "Saint Nicholas" is not a holiday, and "Bethlehem" is not a holiday. If you take the words "show the holiday" out of the description, this puzzle makes sense, but as it stands right now this puzzle is wrong, wrong, wrong.
Well Barticus...take your complaints to the 8 people who said the teaser was fine if you feel so strongly about it. Don't waste your time here since nothing will change.
Furthermore, if you have the time or inclination, reread the 1st sentence..."RELATES TO..."
