I used 10 changes to do this. I think there would be more of a challenge if you indicated that you have to do it in no more than 7 changes. Maybe someone can find a way to do it in 6?

That's fine and dandy, but really you do have to set a limit or it's not really a teaser anymore. Realistically you could take any two words and tell them to change them one letter at a time. You could probably do it, you'd just have a whole long list of words! Of course this wouldn't work ALL the time, but yeah a limit would be good.

Good teaser, if a bit knotty. I got as far as TRACK and gave up too soon!

I wasted a great deal of time trying to do it in 5 iterations, with each one containing a letter needed to change the t h i n k set into the b r a i n set. ground rules make for more constructive yet still challenging attempts to solve these type of problems.

It can be done in 6 changes if one isn't limited to modern English.

THINK
THINE (old-english; 'yours')
TRINE (group of three)
BRINE (salt water)
BRANE (physics term)
BRANN (middle-english; meat flesh)
BRAIN

Have to agree with Uslessnfo and Phyllisa. Good teaser, but a little more direction would have helped me before I gave up.

I worked my way down to TRACK & up to TRAIN, but I couldn't connect the too. This teaser gave my brain a workout though! Thanks

I agree that a limit on the number of changes would have made this better. (I still enjoyed it.) My solution was: THINK > CHINK > CLINK > BLINK > BLANK > BLAND > BRAND > BRAID > BRAIN.

I think I made it harder than it should have been...I only changed letters that existed in the word "Brain" in order:

Think
Thank
Trank
Traik
Train
Brain

I had to look them up to make sure they were words.. but they do exist in the dictionary!

in under 10 minutes. These are fun morning waker-uppers! It would have been more difficult if there was a word limit. Thanks and have a happy day!!!

Five steps: Think, Stink, Slink, Blink, Brink, Brain. I don't usually do these, is there something I missed?

It should form or follow a line of logic, at least alphabetical. Its not the best teaser I've seen or participated, but it's better then the Teasers I've created.

Thanks for Sharing.

A hint would be handy, like ...

If you're too thick to get this, you really should train more.
