Thanks mnkgyl!
I once llied about being the seer as a wolf. Of course it was only good for one round! Since wolves have to lie to even play the game, is there any lie that should be off limits to wolves? What is the biggest lie that you got away with?
And since we are at the start of round three, here is the update.
2 wolves and 9 humans (no seer) are still alive in this game.

Every problem can be solved with a trick but finding that trick itself needs another trick.
Thanks mnkgyl!

Now to answer the 'etiquette question'
Lying is obviously part of the game. As some players probably know, I will false claim as a wolf now and then (preemptively as opposed to just reactively), and I think this move should be at least in every wolves arsenal. Though it shouldnt be overused. In one instance I 'got away' with it in that we won the game for it, but not in that I got nothing but ridiculous vitriol and scorn for it (for a legitimate gameplay tactic...still an event that I find extremely annoying). Otherwise, smaller lies are just part of a wolf's M.O.

It's interesting to note that we know we shot one wolf, but none of the voters of either (Dawn or Brain) were eaten. I don't really have any strong suspects, Hooves made some commentary last round that might have gotten her eaten, but nothing is so strongly worded that I'm willing to guess her eating was 'seer motivated' over. (If anything the wolves maybe thought she divined Harry as human.) Jayo was obviously a prominent figure last round, which alone I am willing to give more leeway to active players early part of the game. As is my standard disclaimer, I am normally wrong about JBomb, but his preemptive post about me voting for him seems like it could have been overly defensive in nature, ie discourage me from potentially voting on a legitimate hunch (and potentially others).
ie. if you predict Im going to do X, my inclination might be to not do X so I dont look like you have me figured out etc..
(note both night kills voted Sonic FWIW..if anything)

I expect the wolf was probably masterbrainer if none of those dawn shooters were killed. Since master was just an inactive shot afterall.
The note about sonic is interesting

The lie that I do not like is:
In one game a human said they were a wolf and ruined the whole game.(allowed wolfs to win)
The early bird gets the worm, but the second rat gets the cheese..

The early bird gets the worm, but the second rat gets the cheese..
Just to add because I forgot that part of the question...any lie that is meant to ellicit genuine sympathy or leinancy from the other players to avoid getting shot. Once someone lied about having to go to a funeral or something very similar

Wolf shot . Seer lost .
Was the seer shot or eaten? I will start a protest if themasterbrain turns out to be seer again
Werewolf is a game of deception. You need to lie to deceit others. Not only wolves, the seer has to lie to. Werewolf is unique in the way that it gives ample time for one to make a lie and others to detect a lie. Just play EpicMafia or town of Salem and you will know how challenging it is to make a lie or detect it in an interval of few seconds. My biggest lie in this game was my fake seer claim and I failed miserably at it . But it took them several hours to find out what's wrong. If it was an instant game, I would have got away with that lie. BTW I am very miserable at lying in real life too .

my biggest lie as a wolf, I guess it would have to be habs is older than me...but is it really??????
I always get in trouble with this question, sometimes you have to lie, half truth, misdirect, etc.
but I think over the line would be a personal crisis that would elicit sympathy and genuine worry, after all
we all have become family of sorts and there is genuine caring of our fellow players
oh I kinda poached dan's answer oh well it was a good one

I have to agree that if a wolf lies about serious illness, death or car accident to avoid being shot that is definitely off limits. I think we are all of the mind set that a serious situation in real life must come first, so if a wolf uses something like that as an excuse then shame on them. As a wolf, I've never lied and said I was the Seer, I see no point in that and I'd never get away with it anyway, so I've never tried. As a regular human I might consider hinting that I was the Seer if it could buy the Seer another round, though.
Since there is no Seer to protect I think I will hold off on voting until more people have posted and I hear what others have to say. I have no real suspicions at this time, so I'm interested in what others think.

I also have to agree with anyone who lies about a personal, real life serious issue that is not true and only used to buy time or elicit sympathy. That said, I do know that real life does get in the way sometimes and cannot be helped as it is a priority. I have never lied and used the Seer card but I have had it used on me and I really don't like it but it is part of the logic of some players. However, once someone uses that "Seer" card and are then found to have lied, it is very hard to trust that person again which is why it only usually works once.
The worst I have done in a game is to post insinuating comments about another member to put suspicion on that person but I have only done so when it was the last round and only three people were left - 2 humans and 1 wolf. I just do not feel comfortable with out and out lying and never have.
As for my vote, now knowing our Seer is gone, I am leaning towards Jayo because of his putting my vote for deb into a majority in the last round and then commenting on my saying that I did not want to be in a majority vote and changing my vote. As Bobbi pointed out, anyone who plays in a game with me knows that I never want to be in a majority in the first few rounds unless I am positive my vote is going to a wolf. I just do not feel comfortable being part of shooting someone who, in most instances early in a game without proof, turns out to be a Human.
I am going to wait a while before I vote to see what everyone else thinks and if any flags go up. Back later - have a busy day. Ugh, I hate busy days!
SMILE and people will wonder what you are up to!

I think people need to separate game lying from real world lying. As we all say, it's just a game, so we all go in knowing it's a game based on deception and it should be all in good fun. If lying (outside of the 'personal crisis' I like Deb's choice of words) bothers someone it's on them not the 'liar'.
Anyway, I think I will start the ball rolling on Sonic to start with

Okay, there's got to be a wolf in that group somewhere, and I don't think its Harry because a wolf wouldn't have started something like that. Not sure about the others.

I've changed to tie my majority with sonic's since there is at least some logic behind that vote. I would be pretty happy that someone thought I was human if I was a wolf, so that wouldn't rattle me in any way, Jayo

What about the time a human said they were the seer?
I agree with personal crises being off limits for lies. Though I also get annoyed when wolves lie about being offended or hurt by something to turn people's sympathies against them. I haven't seen that tactic in a while, but it grinds my gears for sure.

I would really hate it if Masterbrain was seer again. Why not someone active like me?
I've never been a wolf before, so I've never needed to lie. However, I'll say no lie is too big for a wolf. If it wins the game it is a good strategy.
Also, why are we SPVing?
My guess is dawnrising for wolf and HABS for seer, since they were talking quite a lot. Dawn might have caught on or they randomly chose.

"Active like me" rings entirely suspicious to me, or failing suspicious just strangely and needlessly self aggrandizing in a game with 14/15 active players
In regards to your etiquette point, I would have to disagree strongly. If you can outplay your oppnents or enact some ploy within the bounds of the game that gets you the win, then well done and you should not apologize. However, if you have to tell a lie that takes advantage of an opponents good nature, and their willingness to say 'there are some things more important than the game, so I will not question what your telling me as a show of trust and good will" by fabricating a personal crisis....well done?? You managed to punish a good deed? Obviously not saying you have done this, but anyone willing to win like that is sad and pathetic.
I've had only two real 'poor sportsmanship' instances that I recall as pretty significant.
One wolf was shot in a game with a very inactive mod. They joined another game and posted they were human. Again, taking advantage of our nature to trust in these circumstances, an effort to take advantage of 'good will' and things 'in good faith' is just sad.
The other, I was modding a game and knew i couldnt get on for awhile, the round was 30 minutes from ending and a player was in a run away majoirty. I posted 30 mins early....since I will be away...here is the ID.....One person of course attempted to rally a majority change. Luckily, several players called this ridiculous effort out, again, as a betrayal of good faith and trust.
It's these kinds of repay good with evil acts that irritate me

I am also feeling that Jayo might be a wolf .. because his style of play is different .. and to vote the person back who voted you, and it is the only vote, is more probably the wolfy behavior ..
I did kind of rant a bit because I was never seer/wolf/boss/rat despite being more active than masterbrain (if he's seer, that is).
Also, I don't see how saying 'I've never been a wolf/boss/rat' instantly makes me suspicious of being one of those. Is it because I said a strategy for being a werewolf? If so, it isn't hard to come with strategies. Is it because I've a higher chance of being a wolf because I've never been a wolf? Then you should remember that a coin has no memory.
Spider, I didn't really consider exceptions like that. What I meant is if that wolf is still in the game, not about to be shot, then the wolf can say any lies he wants to not get shot. Something like 'I am the seer' (although the actual seer might counter-claim) or 'I helped kill x person when there was no logical reason to bus him'.

Well it wasn't a revenge vote, it was a continuation vote as I also voted Deb towards the end of the last round.
Debs vote was more of a revenge vote than mine is
Not that I'm accusing you of that of course Debster!
Also, it's not very likely that someone as experienced as I am would do something like that if I was furry
in RL I dm a pretty bad liar and I am useless at poker. I would say to play a live version of this game you would need a strong poker face to pull off the misdirection and smoke screens etc.
I'd like to try it I guess but would be hoping for a human card!
On here, I don't mind being a wolf but I'd rather be human given the choice and trying to deduce who is spinning the lies. Best thing about online is nobody can see my face when I'm typing my lies, again in real life you would have to be able to spin it on your toes whereas you can draft and re-type and carefully consider when posting.
I don't know if it's the same for anyone else, but when I'm human the posts are quite natural but when I'm furry I always paws (lol) before I press post to try to make sure it doesn't sound too wolf like. I probably overthink even the most innocuous of posts when on four legs!
As for my worst lie? Nothing is sticking out really, most ruthless though was bussing both fellow wolves in a recent game to get the W. I'm comfortable bussing, maybe due to the fact that my dad used to be a bus driver before he retired

Yes, that is what I was trying to say! Since no Seer needed to be protected, I could vote for someone I was suspicious of.
As for my vote, I'm going to go ahead and vote for Jayo based on my previous post as well as how he came back in his post about my comment regarding the Seer being gone.

No need for SPV. Did notice that Spider moved from a maj on Putter to one on dawn. His post implied it was unplanned but I'm curious whether that's accurate.
Not enough to vote on but there it is anyway. Will check back later to see if there's anyone worth voting for.

With the news we shot a wolf (im betting it was more likely Brain than Dawn but we dont know that) Im interested in why your natural inclination would be to find my vote suspicious? Also to note, I was vote 3 on Brain (in a game where bussing is not useful)

Was hoping for a little more dialogue in WWG primetime .....I was busy launching my spaceship in 2040 BC in Civ 1...pauses for applause break
I dont think Jayo is a good vote this round at least. We hit a wolf, it could have been Dawn, I see Jayo taking a gamble on a tie breaker last round (pending a quick fact check of the voting situation) especially with hidden IDs saving a wolf is more viable. Brain again, could have been the wolf, but at this stage it makes more sense to keep the possible lesser suspects around (if you buy my argument about Jayo breaking a wolf tie last round)
ankitankurddit voted for Jayo
bradon182001 voted for sonic102
catmandon voted for HarryPutter

froggygg voted for Jayo

Jayo voted for debc1
mnkgyl voted for HarryPutter

The_Spider voted for sonic102
Harry I specifically am interested in your opinion on this, do you think this quick and somewhat determined tie is a good sign of a wolf in the mix? (sorry not a tie)

Just noticed
0 votes on everyone except the following
1 vote on debc1
2 votes on Harry
3 votes on sonic
4 votes on jayo
Isn't it an interesting ladder
Every problem can be solved with a trick but finding that trick itself needs another trick.

my vote was a spv at the time and I said was changeable
then scrubs announced we had no seer
I don't know, like I said I don't see anything really suspicious
sonic- well he is young and exuberant, could he be a wolf, sure, could he be eager to be a role, sure
I wonder how many times he has played wolf and if he has never been a wolf
edit
went to his page, no games are listed so not sure

Deb, his game page shows he has played 8 WWG.
Read through all the posts since my vote and am keeping my vote where it is. Night everyone.

So Froggy, your main reason for voting for me (and therefore in the majority voters) is because I voted along with your SPV on Deb (making you one of the majority voters) which made you uncomfortable being in a majority of voters? Sorry no sale, you are completely contradicting yourself by presenting this feeble reasoning for voting for me.
Genuine suspicions are fine, self contradictory reasons not so much
It probably won't make a difference but I'm switching to Froggy now
I don't see the point of joining the Sonic vote, if I am to be shot, especially in a blind game it's better in round 3 than 5 or 6. The only thing I would ask the Mod to do is list the roles of the dead at the start of round 5 for clarity sake.
I'll be back on later to have a proper look at people if possible

I don't really find Froggy wolfish, but I do have a hard time supporting her argument for a Jayo vote. I don't understand some people's 'vote possessiveness' wherein they feel others are compelled to not join their vote lest they become uncomfortable. In that regard, I think Froggy's vote for Jayo is somewhat of a 'punitive' lashout instead of a fully formed suspicion. Again, that being said, I dont see a lot wolfish about her yet, but players with more experience with her can help me out there if they see something off.
Let me ask you this Jayo, what do you find so potentially human about Sonic that you are willing to accept a greater risk of death to keep alive?
No word from the Big Canuck let me review the round as a whole and see how the landscape looks
Also, I generally ignore simple oversights (Deb not noticing Sonic had 8 games played) but it's tough to see how she could have missed that.

I'm still fixed on sonic's "I've never been a wolf BEFORE" which I suppose could be just an unfortunate choice of wording, but I can't shake the feeling that his unintentional meaning was before "this" game. How many games have I been in where a little wording mistake has outed a wolf? More than I can count.
So, that's where I'm at, which could be way out in left field, but I'm sticking with it.

May be she just looked for the 20 games played trophy but didn't find it, so made that comment. This thing gets me stumped sometimes too .

Sonic may well be a wolf for all I know, as could you. 4 votes on me which means at least 2 humans have voted for me but I would be quite surprised if all 4 were human, but again who knows.
My wolf-dar isn't in amazing shape this game, the blindness is a massive hindrance magnified by the loss of the Seer.
If we could find out who was who in either round 4 or 5 it would be something of a balancing help to the humans.
The wolves have a big advantage in the dark, if MB was a wolf, it doesn't tell us too much. If DR was the furry one, then I'd mostly consider Spid to be human as it would have been a completely unnecessary bussing of a competent wolf

I wouldnt be too fatalistic. Sometimes someone is a sure shot one round, escapes, and is hardly bothered going forward. Now granted, those are in games where IDs are revealed so new information can be the cause of that, where you may not have this reprieve here. I am not in favor of a 'change on the fly' of the rules, and would prefer we play our way out of this tough situation.
Round 5 obviously will still be a 'safe' round so we will know if one of our next two bullets is wolves and the next two eatings are humans obviously. So I think we have a reasonable shot to figure things out, especially as the numbers dwindle as the game gets late.
(mnky just seems to be 'goofing off' so I consider him another suspect)

You could always just point out your impressions of people, even if they are humanish, mnky
Concerning the tie, I'm not sure. There are only a pair of wolves left so they don't have much sway in controlling the game, but they can be forming one of the competing majorities here to save the other. But in that case, I would be interested in why they didn't pile on me to save the wolf

That's interesting, though a closer look at the sequence of the votes might provide some insight.
Not sure much is going to be shaken up this round (or if Jayo will, eventually act to save himself) Does anyone have any other candidates?

didn't realize the tie was broken. Sonic could easily be a wolf in that case, imo.

might have mispoke earlier (or be misunderstanding) not sure if they were tied since my voting list post ( as you can see it was actually 4 to 3)
